One week ago I was being wheeled into surgery and today I'm going back to work. Amazing what a success this one was. I still gotta wait a while to play but it's gong to be a fantastic summer.
Do you have to do any rehab, or just give it time to heal?

Very nice to hear you're doing well.

In the meantime, I'll try to use up all the bogies, so you can shoot pars and birdies.

Pretty much just rest up. No PT, just nothing to risk tearing the patch.

Walking fine. Mowed 1.5 acres this afternoon.

...fuckin' miracle. Thanks for asking.

Played first three holes in a steady sprinkle, just enough to get everything dripping wet... clouds parted, sun came out... course was super lush, greens tight & true... we owned the place... gots to say - my game "feels" right (not that there isn't stadium size room for improvement, but)... 43/41, 34 putts, improved drives/2nd's/approaches. So, things are going pretty good, except for

I give up. Fuck that shit. Admitting defeat. Am contracting professional help. :ohwell:

Posted this in the daily thread...oops

So windy yesterday it made golf an adventure. Steady winds in the mid 20's gusting over 40. The gusts were longer than a gust, they would last 3 or 4 minutes, so you couldn't wait for them to subside.

Par 3 180 yards over marshland. Couldn't get there with my driver. I don't think I hit it 140 yards. Same thing on a par 5, driver, hybrid, hybrid, hybrid, chip and putt. 45-48=92

Yep, they had the whites back at the tips, it's 205 from there and 180 to clear the crap....I never stood a chance.

been too busy for golf last couple of years. Finally got to play a round the other day. Front 9 was awful. Took 6 strokes to get on the green on #1. Was about to pack it in when I got to #12, 160 yard par 3. Easy swing with my 7 iron and I nearly holed it. After that birdie, my game picked back up and I didn’t miss another fairway and finished with 3 more pars.

Now I’m hooked again

I don't play when the wind is up like that. This game is hard enough under perfect conditions... decent score considering.

Just pitching in the yard so far. Doc said a full 6 weeks, 8 would be better. I think 6 or 7 will do but I'll go easy.

I kick butt whenever I golf with our next door neighbor Ron... he's badder and I am gooder... I'm relaxed and at ease playing with Ron.

I've gotten my butt kicked by my two sensei scratch golfers Manny and Mike for two+ years now... I'm never relaxed under their intimidating gazes.

Times past, the sensei boys gave me strokes, usually 18, but I rarely enjoyed the advantage... hee hee... until this year... silly boofs gave me 18 today.
I cleaned their clocks without the strokes... shot 38/39 - 77, hit every fairway, had 28 off-the-chart putts, two off-green chip-ins, three birds, unconscious, way hard to fathom day. Blaming my new grip and two years' playing with a couple of really good hitters - who never hesitated to identify my faults/suggest fixes.

Ficking game's kinda fun. Who'da thunk.

Dr. Manny's Dr. wife teamed up with their 30-yr old daughter in a 70-team women's tourney last weekend...
played their first rounds of the year...
they won by a stroke.

daughter ran the LPGA circuit several years back... is now a 4-handicap... lol... plays from the whites or blues... outdrives everyone except mom, dad and sensei Mike... (good thing she's a sweetheart, would be so easy to resent her talent.)

5 weeks post surgery today. In a couple of weeks I should be able to hit some balls!

Meeting some of my buds at the club this afternoon for beers when they come in. I'll hit the practice area and chip and putt for an hour.

I usually chip and putt for 10 minutes and then go play but it's amazing how it comes around when you spend a full hour.

Finally decided to make my own move to the 7 wood. But instead of dropping my 4-iron, I'm dropping a wedge.

DR
4w
7w
4i-9i
PW
48*
54*
58*

Thought being that 4i off the tee on tight par 4s and where I want to make use of hard dry courses is more valuable. I don't play a full swing with any of my wedges ever so just adjusts my touch. Instead of playing 52* and 56* from 100-130 yards, I'll just use the 54* for most of that and the 58* for everything around the green.

7-wood is pure fun... really love that club. But since the changed grip/stance/swing I've somehow figured out both the 4i and 5i.
Played today and flew 40 yards PAST the pin on a 175yd par 3 - with my 4-iron!?!
holy shit

7-wood...and with the right attack, one can balloon over high trees and other obstructions with more authority than any wedge.
