Time for this year’s update.

Time to pony up my golf membership. Got some good news from my buddy who’s on the admissions committee that they’ve forwarded my friend who I sponsored to the board for final approval so he’s pretty much a lock to join this year. He’s waited 3 years. Mostly it’s gonna save me his guest fees!

I was supposed to play Tobacco Road tomorrow. But there is 3" of snow on the ground and highs are in the low 40s. So that's not happening.

Instead I'm going on Monday to get fit for new irons. Narrowed it down to these....

- Mizuno JPX925 Forged (in black)
- Mizuno Pro S-3
- Mizuno Pro 245
- Srixon ZXi7
- TaylorMade P-790

Realistically, it's going to take a lot to get me away from these beauties...

These made a huge difference in my game last year. Had two PBs of 78 at two private clubs I'd never broken 80 on.

Currently gaming 10+ year old MP-54s. The new clubs should fix all of my problems. Ha.

Maybe not all of 'em but it's a lot of fun to game clubs you're really confident with.

I've still got a 20+ year old ping driver in the garage that comes out when the demons get really bad. LOL.

Oh yeah, it's usually the archer but a new arrow can fly straighter!

So psyched, my friend Jeff whom I'm sponsoring was just awarded a membership in my club after a three year wait. Of course, it'll mostly free me up from the guest fees I've been paying since he's played on invites!

Now, fingers crossed that my failing leg holds up and I can play myself this year.

Success, gentlemen.

Hit the 925Forged, 245, S3, X5, and X7.

The 245 was relatively forgetable. Made to look like a blade but is and feels like a hollow body.
The S3 was absolutely gorgeous. But so tough to hit. Even carrying a 7, I don't think I'm good enough. Guy said if I was playing more and trying to get to my peak he would have put me in that one.
The X7 was nearly the same story.

Both the 925Forged and the X5 were absolute money for me. Couldn't mishit them to save my life. I gave the tie to the Mizuno (I've played them for 20+ years) and getting it in the black.

Ended up in the KBS Tour Stiff shaft (also in black) and he's going to step up the tip for me just to give a touch more control.

MCC +4 Align grips throughout. 4-PW.

Final numbers on the 7iron....

100 mph swing speed.
133 mph ball speed
5500 rpm
130' high peak
50* decent angle

Playing the ProV left dash.

Absolute money. Now have to wait two weeks and order my custom ferules.

Trying to avoid total depression as I face what's coming this year. Had my left hip replaced 9/14/23 but I continue to have nerve pain that sporadically shoots down the outside of my leg. My surgeon is stumped and has never seen this before. At times I cannot walk and turning out onto the leg in a golf swing aggravates it.

FUCK!

Paid my membership and I don't know what kind of year I'll have. We shot my hip with cortisone on Tuesday but it hasn't given me any relief yet....it can take up to a week but I've always had it work within a coupla days when it does work. I've looked into other Ortho docs but nobody wants someone else's problem. My doc's gonna get me a referral elsewhere if/when this last little trick doesn't work.

So again, FUCK!

That really sucks man. My dad just had his second hip replacement on Monday in anticipation of our Scotland trip in June. Hope you get yours figured out soon.

I might go talk to a new doc or a specialist. I'd worry that he nicked something he shouldn't have during the surgery.

Are you sure it's coming from the hip? Sounds more like a disc or meraglia. I get the pain down the outside of the right leg and at times numbness in the thigh. Been to doctor, chiropractor, nothing.

Started doing the cobra pose and the cat/cow twice a day...didn't work. Then i read some people had to do it damn near every hour to get relief. So I decided ...what the fuck, so one day I did it every hour, day 2 I did it once and there was a pop in my lower back, pain was gone.

A few days later I got it in the other leg, but it was something else., a pinched nerve in the piriformis. Did some contracting exercises and the symptoms disappeared.

Had relief for a couple of years and its now coming back in the right leg. I need to do the cobra stretches again.

Best of luck, I hope they can identify the source and get you healed.

Yeah, it's emanating from the hip for sure. When I lost the right side, the wear was on the inside of the joint but the left has been the outer part since the start. For a two month period of time, Jan/Feb after Sept surgery, I was 100%. Then going downstairs one day I pulled something and got a stab of pain. From then on I've had some good weeks but it's just ever present and aggravated by the golf swing.

I little better today, takin' it easy.

Best of luck, i hope you and the doc figure it out.

I'm not sure being pain free when we hit our 60's is doable.

Got that cortisone shot on Tuesday and long about Saturday, the pain was down to hardly notcible. Continued throughout the day yesterday and today I'm walking quite well. I'm not thinking I'm out of the water but...
