played 18 yesterday, but since it had just rained and I didn't want to do cart path only, I brought my old Clicgear 3.0 cart to push around the course.

shot a 93, which isn't great, isn't terrible. I would have liked a couple putts that skirted the hole to fall, but oh well.

tell you what, walking 18 on a hot day with a hilly course...definitely got my heartrate up...and I am by no means out of shape

7-wood is pure fun... really love that club. But since the changed grip/stance/swing I've somehow figured out both the 4i and 5i.
Played today and flew 40 yards PAST the pin on a 175yd par 3 - with my 4-iron!?!
holy shit

7-wood...and with the right attack, one can balloon over high trees and other obstructions with more authority than any wedge.

I love mine... same for my 9-wood. I dropped all irons longer than a 7 and exchanged them for woods or hybrids about 15 years ago. They're just much easier to hit with any consistency. Imo, anyone who doesn't break 90 regularly should make that switch if they haven't already.

Yesterday was the 6 week mark and I've started hitting some easy wedge shots. Probably a couple more weeks until I'm hitting the driver and getting back on the course. School ends this week so the timing is great. Should be a great summer of walking and playing pain free.

Man, three months ago I was still in pain and doc didn't know what to do about it. The week I paid my membership in February I couldn't friggin' walk!

I offer every year, if anyone's in Western MA this summer, gimme a ring and come play my awesome course~

We rode but they had several wet areas roped off. It's on a hill overlooking a lake and "Hills" is even in the name. The greens are an adventure. I couldn't imagine walking 18 there.. we saw a couple walking though. I get plenty of exercise including walking several miles a few times a week, but when I play golf I ride.

it's funny... now that I'm into my dotage (but not quite to the accelerated decrepitude stage yet) and playing from the whites or seniors tees I've found that with a good drive my 7w or 4i/5i usually gets me home.

(couple days ago I crowed: Played today and flew 40 yards PAST the pin on a 175yd par 3 - with my 4-iron!?! ...
pfft, we replayed that course yesterday, that hole is 145yds <cough>

ahem... just the same, a straight-as-a-string 185yd hit with a 4i was pretty cool.
Yesterday, otoh, I snap hooked one into the deep woods - served me right, I hit my 6i.

My 6i was the only one I thought about keeping. I was pretty solid with it and hit my 'best shot ever' with it. I'm more consistent with my 6h though. I'm 70 and play from the whites, but anything much over 400 yards is a 3 shot hole so 6100-ish works.

My driver is my current issue but I'll get that figured out.. one good thing I discovered yesterday is that I've recovered some distance I'd lost. My driver carry was just > 200 when I kept it on the course, which is better than it has been the past few years. Working out helps I guess.

I hit my 4w, which is next to my driver that I almost hit, on the 190 yarder I hit stiff.. that was into a good wind too but I nutted it. That's as much as I can expect out of that club under normal conditions.

Still haven't gotten evaluated analyzed cross examined and totally humiliated at one of those golf stimulator (heh) places.
Would be swell to know what my club windows are as compared to how clearly I think I see them...
v'got carry distance, total distance, good strike +total distance and assumed average total distance...

D: cd 190... td 230... +td 250... avg td 220 Address, bend, breathe, waggle waggle, take dead aim, blast away, take no prisoners.
4W 170... 210... 225... avg td 190 Favorite Club... awesome for 2nd cut and wide open runways.
4i cd 165... td 190... +td 200... avg td 180 Great fun to see/feel sweet strikes off the fairway... power driver on par 3s.
5i 160... 175... 190... avg td 170 Don't use it much, carry it to keep 4i company.
6i cd 155... td 175... +td 185... avg td 160 Utility Club - best for bushes, sand, swamp, rocks, trees and occasional decent lies.
7i 150... 165... 175... avg td 155 Dithering Iron - Not quite a 6i... more than a comfortable 8i... yeah, c'mere you.
8i cd 140... td 155... +td 170... avg td 150 For some reason, the club that feels most comfortable in-hand and least likely to fail.
9i 125... 135... 150... avg td 130 For some reason, the club that, inexplicably, is most likely to fail... grr grr
PW cd 90... td 105... +td 125... avg td 100 Utility Wedge... if it had bullets, I could shoot chipmunks too.
54W 60... 80... 90... avg td 50* Pretty much all sand and fear-inspired-jump obstacle shots only.
