WTF is KenPom?

A college basketball rating system. To oversimplify it, it basically it takes your points per possession and your opponents points per possession and adjusts for level of competition to rank every team.

Adjusted for competition, we give up the 8th fewest points per possession in the country. And there were large stretches today where VT was scoring over 1.5 PPP on us.

This has been the most 'meh' day of first round games I can remember. No upsets, no drama. No blowouts, but it felt like every game was a 10 point game from start to finish.

Missed the end of the Northwestern game.

Hopefully, tmrw makes up for it.

Went a sweet 14-2 today only missing UNC-Wilmington and Princeton. Not a bad start at all.

A 12 seed (Middle Tennessee) beat a 5 seed (Minny). And an 11 seed (Xavier) beat a 6 seed (Maryland). Princeton, UNC Wilmington and Bucknell gave their opponents fits....

12s and 11s winning aren't really upsets to me although the MTSU team is pretty entertaining.

Princeton-Notre Dame was good.

15 of 16 here. Only miss was VCU-St. Marys. Which means that my bracket is gonna wind up in the 10th percentile.

I'm still not convinced by that Wisconsin win. They were horrendous down the stretch of the regular season; it's hard to take them seriously. Bronson stepped up, but he's been doing that for four years now. Happ continues to miss bunnies, other than Trice the bench is weak, Hayes decided to show up tonight.

Greatly doubt they'll have enough in the tank to run with a very sound Villanova team. Hopefully I'm proven wrong.

Wisconsin's problem this year is consistency. I wouldn't want to be the 1-seed that drew Wisconsin because you don't know which team you're going to get. The one that lost 4 of 6 (or whatever it was)? No problem. Or the one that is passing well and defending well and hitting their shots, and was a top 10 team earlier in the season?

For the record I have them going out against Nova, and there's no way they make a deep tourney run with that inconsistency, but on a night to night basis I think it's a coin flip with this team.

I still can't figure out how Wisconsin was seeded under Maryland.

I picked Xavier to win that game without their best player, and they did. I could not see them beating Wisconsin.
