Yeah, Vandy was overseeded. Guess the committee valued their high SOS and their wins over Florida and Iowa State.

A timeout to remind them of the situation would come handy

This is simply wrong. There was a timeout a few plays earlier by NW. You think a coach should have to call a timeout to say "Ok now we are winning so don't foul"....what is this fucking kindergarten basketball?

If a coach uses a timeout with 6 minutes remaining and the game spiralling out of control, and the team gets back into the game, would you rather he save it for the final minute for when his team is still down 10? It completely depends on the situation the game is in, and a good coach knows his team can execute at the end of the game without the need for a timeout. A bad coach ends the game down 10 with a timeout in his back pocket. A good coach uses his timeouts whenever they are truly needed, whether that is with 8 minutes left or 10 seconds.

They need to come to that kid's rescue and remind the viewers who gets paid 3 million/year

Regardless. Why would he want to take a timeout with 14 seconds left after his team just went up 1. So the other team can set up a play? It's the kid's fault, and it's ridiculous that you think otherwise.

Then he tells his team what to do
1) If they score
2) If they dont score
NW was already back on defense as the refs hold the ball, so it wasn't like Vanderbilt was wasting a fastbreak opportunity.
