Agreed. He look like a ST. Other than that this was horrible. There better players available.

He was the only true FS available at the time. The other Safeties were SS. We needed a FS. Its high but I don't have a problem with the picks. I believe we filled all our holes in this draft. It was a successful one.

Very fast saftey but Marcus Allen from also Penn State is a better safety in my opinion.

Apke ran a 4.34 40

Know Marcus from his HS days. He is a better in the box player. He is a big safety but not fast, very physical. Apke is a better pass defender. Love the pick.

NOTES ON THE SELECTION OF TROY APKE


· Apke is the 470th selection made by the Redskins in the Common Draft era (since 1967) and the 34th fourth-round selection in that time frame. He is the 49th fourth-round selection by the Redskins all-time since the institution of the draft in 1936.

· Apke’s selection with the No. 109 overall pick marks the highest the Redskins have selected a safety since selecting LaRon Landry with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. (Note: Su’a Cravens was initially selected as a linebacker with the No. 53 overall pick in 2016).

· Apke becomes the second safety selected by the Redskins in the fourth round in the past two years after the team selected Montae Nicholson with the No. 123 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Apke and Nicholson are both natives of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, as Apke played his high school career at Mt. Lebanon High School and Nicholson completed his prep career at Gateway High School, approximately 25 miles away.

Zach was a #1 fan of the Montae Pick last year when the rest of hadn’t heard of him. He’s a great listen on Locked on Redskins podcast FYI

Yes it's horrible in my book not in the 4th rd. I'm not looking for some one who has one yr experience at his position. He hasn't produced much. Now he sounds like he could be a ST candidate but at #4 if I'm going safety, I need a experienced safety. Let me put it this way if you really wanted this guy you coulda had him around 1 to 2 rds later. In other he's a reach in my book. There were other better prospects at our #4 spot so we passed on some pretty good players. Now I understand he has some long term potential therefore some upside but again he could have be had later.

Chris Hogan from the patriots went to PSU though he didnt play football. He went to Monmouth College where he finished the season with 12 catches.

Apke is ahead of the curve already. He's played at a high level and his athleticism is off the charts. I actually liked this pick. Skins need speed and they really need help on ST. Apke checks off both boxes.

I don’t disagree with your conclusion, but you do not know if he could have been had a round or two later.

To me Nicholson was a better prospect than Apke. Most sites had Apke going from rd 5 to 7. Look everybody has their own opinion. I like the Trey Quinn pick much better but the Apke pick. I am not sold on that one. Look we will see when the season starts. For now we just disagree but if he proves be wrong so be it, just as long Apke can help us. But until then he's still a reach at 4 for me.
