Can you imagine the long train rides for those Ivy league schools back then? I doubt they were luxury rides regarding heating of the passenger cars, noise, meals, etc.

Especially when you consider that we are talking about an era that is only 35-40 years after the completion of the transcontinental railroad.

Too bad Michigan State isn't in the SEC or else we could claim a national title for 2013.

And yet dozens of others don't agree with him, one man...

Fort the second time, I'll explain that the list was the compilation of the opinion of others.

OU was just bursting onto the scenes during this era. With a complied record of 179-101-31 which ranked 55th best overall out of over 140 clubs that played during this era on the collegiate level.

OU was able to achieve its first ever conference title capturing the Southwest Conference crown in 1915 after finishing 10-0-0. Cornell and some say Pittsburgh were the champs that year but the Sooners were certainly champs of the southwest.

The Sooners were able to capture 2 more conference titles in the pre-AP era and had another remarkable year in 1938 when they went 10-1-0. All this time 6 coaching changes in two decades after such a long stability with Bennie Owen then in 1947 came the arrival of Charles B. "Bud" Wilkinson and changed the Sooners, and the game for that matter, forever as he went on to make history and start a tradition of excellence that has been shared for 3 generations in our great state and that I and others can pass on to our forth and may this tradition of excellence and championships continue!

If I remember correctly OU beat the tar out of LSU in 1957 in a game that either did or could have decided the National Title.

Oklahoma only won 1 conference title from 1916-1935, the Big Eight in 1920. They did NOT win a title in 1918, as the Southwest didn't grant a title.

CFB Data Warehouse says otherwise
Oklahoma Conference Championships

wonder what that's all about?

CFB Data Warehouse is full of crap an a lot of things.

Oklahoma claims 2 conference titles that the conference in question did not give them (or let them keep). In 1918, due to the Influenza outbreak, the Southwest canceled their season and named no champion. Oklahoma claims they won it anyway, finishing the season with a 2-0 record. Texas does not claim it, even though they finished at 4-0. The 1972 Big Eight title was taken away from Oklahoma due to 3 forfeit losses (or 9). Oklahoma claims the title anyway.

Oklahoma is an interesting school. They write articles complaining about other schools claiming national titles that were granted to those schools by the governing organization, but Oklahoma claims titles that were not granted by the governing organization.

And for the last time I tell you it's a meaningless list long after the fact. There are several other compilations after the fact that come up with totally different results, take your list and use it to start a fire, that's all it's good for.

I'm just glad OU didn't win any titles during this era.

I wouldn't enjoy arguing about clusterfuck era titles all day.

If it were a meaningless list, then so many people wouldn't care about it. Because it's meaningless to you does not mean it's meaningless.
