I was looking around the all time stats and every time, when I see Francis at #4 in points, I always get to thinking about how he never had a HUGE year. He was so consistent about getting 70-90+ points in almost every season he played. The guy just never had great nor bad years. kind of like Hank Aaron holding the HR record at 755 yet he never hit 50 HRs in any 1 season. I think he had 8 seasons with 40+ HRs.
Consistancy is the key to both Hank and Rons achievements.

...and he has a job for life, and can name his job, as long as Karmanos still owns the 'Canes!
Don't know if he'll ever be head coach, it's quite possible (his title currently sits as "associate head coach", not "assistant coach" like Tom Rowe) and director of player personnel... but I certainly see him sitting in a chair next to Rutherford as co-GM eventually (with apologies to Jason Karmanos)

I don't feel like looking it up, but he had something like 20 or 21 straight years of 50+ points. Astounding longevity and consistency.

The respect he commanded on an off the ice was ridiculous. Truly one of the most unsung Captains in NHL history. They called him Ronnie "Franchise" for a reason!

Ok, there was one guy didn't respect him quite enough....
Damn you Scott Stevens. lol
the memory of Ronnie trying ti LITERALLY crawl back to the bench is horrible.

I know 7+ season in Pittsburgh doesnt mean we can claim him as ours but he played there long enough and did so much that he is a staple for Penguins hockey. He is one of our greats but he is obviously more associated with the Hartford franchise. I think I wouldnt mind having a Francis Whalers jersey someday.
