KuklasKorner : Hockey

“They’ve lost a spark and I think a big part of it is the guy behind the bench. They really, from the beginning, never bought into Cory Clouston. And, you know, they had a hard time with him in the beginning, and you know, they kind of gave into it a little bit for a while, but I just don’t think he has what it takes to keep them.”

“I’ve talked to people up there - Melnyk wants Murray to go behind the bench to finish the year coaching, and he refuses to do it, and I think it’s causing a major turmoil amongst ownership and the general manager that he’s not willing to do that, and I think you may see at the end of the year that the coach and general manager may be moved out of there.”

Rob Ray played on the Sens during the final year of his career in 03/04 and he knows some of the players and management really well. If this is true then there is NO doubt in my mind the Murray is gone after this year. Absolutely GONE...

Like the article said, Ray works the Sabres telecast now and he is not shy about saying what's on his mind and he is right more often than not. Good luck Urkie I hope he's right and the Sens and Sabres (pending new ownership) get these teams turned around and get the rivalry going again.

I liked Ray when he played with the Sens and yes, he is very opinonated but I really do think he's spot on here. As I said, he probably still has some friends in the Sens organization and I'm sure he's heard this directly from them. I don't think he would say anything at all or be so specific if he hadn't heard this from somebody in the organziation.

I hope so too Boss. I really do...

This kind of makes more sense now that I think about it too since it seemed like there was a bit of a disconnect between Melnyk and Murray when both went on the radio the other day. Melnyk was talking about making long term plans for the future while Murray was talking about quick fixes and how the team could be competitive again soon.

I don't know, maybe I'm reading too much into it but I feel like there is definitely some tension between Melnyk and Murray right now.

And I found this little tidbit too...

My god this is turing into a soap opera.

According to some stories I've heard on this guy the last little while, he has already left. I've been told that while the rest of the team takes a bus to the rink while on the road, Kovalev often travels separately in a cab. There will always be questions about his attitude but Kovalev could be a difference maker if put in the right situation. His expiring contract could make him an attractive option to a playoff bound team. The Blues perhaps?

OMG :L

If that's true then he should be sent down to the minors asap...

WHO DOES THAT. Seriously. You can't just sit on a bus with headphones in and pretend you're a player on a team? Sheesh.

I think Fedor Fedorov used to do that in Manitoba.

The team would show up in a bus, and he'd arrive in the Hummer that his brother bought for him.
No wonder Bieksa KO'd him the first time they met (yes, they were 'teammates' at the time)
