RIP Little Jimmy Dickens

He was 94 years old, the oldest member of the Grand Ole Opry and one of the last remaining pioneers of Country music.

He passed away yesterday, January the 2nd of cardiac arrest following a stroke a few days earlier.

Honestly, I was never a huge fan of his music, but keep in mind his career in Nashville predated that of Hank Williams Sr. He was influential to many, helped many struggling artists find their way, and he will be missed.

I saw when I was just a little kid. I barely remember the show, but he opened for George Jones at Lanier Land(used to be a mid sized venue between Coal Mountain and Gainesville, GA)

Jimmy was a nice guy and very loyal to his fans and fellow musicians.
