The Pocket Rocket has passed away. 11 times his name was engraved on the Stanley Cup.

How many of us remember watching him on black-and-white TV when there were only six teams?

Remember him sliding into Roger Crozier with the puck for a Cup winning goal. Crozier had stood on his head for Detroit to no avail aside from the Conn Smythe.

He broke my heart in 1971 when he went around the lummox otherwise known as Kieth Magnusson to score the tying and winning goals versus Chicago.

Shortly after Lemaire scored on a floater from center ice on Tony O and Dryden stuck his right leg out in rapier like fashion to rob Jim Pappin who's arms were prematurely raised in celebration......

I was watching from the womb. Mom's belly button plugged up a lot though so I had to squint much of the time. Still have the facial rick!!

There was a game in May of '66. Only the 2nd time I managed to get to a playoff game from '63-'66. I think half the people in Olympia saw Henri shove the puck in the net with his hand. Sadly the ref wasn't part of that half.

I was in jr high then, hid my head & cried most of the way home with my dad.

I thought for sure after they took the first 2 games at the Forum, the Wings would finally win a cup since I started following hockey. I despised him for many years after that. Maturity settles in sometime in life, of course that abated.

My fondest wish over the decades was for the Wings & Habs to meet again in the finals. Of course that won't happen now. RIP Henri, you surely were one of the greats.
