The Silver Fox gone at age 83
Hall of Fame NASCAR racer Pearson dies at 83
I remember as an 8 year old kid getting his autograph at the K-Mart sporting good dept. on the Saturday before the Atl 500
RIP good sir
The "Silver Fox" of NASCAR
RIP Silver Fox
RIP. Mr Pearson.
He and Petty were the reason I started following NASCAR
Quite a lot of nascar purists claim Pearson to be the best ever.
He won over 100 races running mostly a part time schedule. Pretty much every season he raced the entire schedule, he won the championship.
200 wins for Petty is impressive, but back then there would be 60+ races a year, and he'd be one of very few that raced all of them. And that's a reason why nobody will ever come close to topping Petty's win record.
That's a reason why Junior Johnson isn't looked at as an all time great.
A little late to the game. Pearson and Petty two all time greats. I will quote Petty as Pearson was the best driver ever in NASCAR. Petty said if Pearson turned off the track into the parking lot he would not ask any questions just follow. High praise.
