Bad luck for Stuart, but earlier Datsyuk had a chance to ice the puck and was stripped by Couture. Pavel is human.

Yes that was a great play by Haute Couture as you call him. Not many people can say they got a live puck off Datsyuk's stick.

i knew i should not have typed that.

but san jose played a great game. wouldn't say the wings deserved to win. san jose outplayed them for long stretches, just couldn't get one in. it was only a matter of time.

No worries, just busting your chops...

I thought the Sharks played pretty bad in the first but they caught up a little after that.

OT is just a crapshoot and they won on a lucky bounce, what are you going to do...

And I thought the refs were gracious with the extra 2 minutes on that call there; I didn't see any blood and it didn't look that vicious.

Doesn't matter if you don't see blood. Double minors aren't subjective

Maybe I just don't know the rule... I thought there had to be blood *or* an obvious whack/injury to draw the extra 2... but anyway. I won't argue.

EDIT: NHL Rule 60.3 says:
60.3 Double-minor Penalty - When a player carries or holds any part of his stick above the shoulders of the opponent so that injury results, the Referee shall assess a double-minor penalty for all contact that causes an injury, whether accidental or careless, in the opinion of the Referee.

Awesome jinx! Thanks, we'll take it...

Hell of a game by Detroit though... they probably deserved to win this one.

EDIT: Sorry, not trying to rub shit in; I've been bitching about the shitty play by the Sharks all night in the GDT on our board.

Meh I disagree. I thought the Sharks were better tonight. It was a pretty good game, but I didn't think it was a hell of a game by Detroit. I expect the Wings to be better than they were tonight going forward. If tonight was Detroit's best game they won't last long.

The Sharks have to get better at screening Howard and getting to rebounds. Howard made some nice saves but he was fighting the puck all night and there were some very juicy rebounds that the Wings D got to before the Sharks. The Sharks gotta work harder to get to those.

agreed. i thought the wings did a pretty good job keeping most of san jose's shots to the perimeter but had too many times when they just couldn't clear the zone or diffuse the san jose forecheck.

overall, i think they had a fairly even number of dangerous chances.

What happened with the Bert hit? Any videos? Just saw some biased tweets on it...

I didn't think it was that bad. I can see the penalty being called, but it wasn't a suspendable hit. The penalty on Eaves in the third was worse (although the Sharks didn't score on it). Weak ass hooking call. I think it was hooking anyway. Weak ass call regardless.

sharks were the better team last night. one thing i cannot stand though is the diving by the sharks. they are too good of a team to have to resort to such tactics

What fucking diving?!

the hit by bertuzzi on pavalski, he snapped his head back so fast i thought he broke his neck. and the slash by eaves, you would of thought that he just cut the guy's arm off with a machete
