I'd hadn't really noticed this until now... On the books next year:
Under contract:
$27.5m - Chris Sale, SP
$20m - Trevor Story, 2B/SS
$13m - Eric Hosmer (paid by SD), 1B
$8.4m - Matt Barnes, RP
$7.5m - Tommy Pham (mutual option), OF
$1.25 - Garrett Whitlock, RP
Arbitration guesses:
$15m - Rafael Devers (!), 3B
$5m - Alex Verdugo, OF
$4m - Nick Pivetta, SO
$3m - Christian Arroyo, 2B
$2m - Ryan Brasier, RP
$2m - Josh Taylor, RP
They've got some work to do.

its the list of players on the rule 5 draft if not put on sox 40 man rosterIs that the top 50?
That is an optimistic deal for the Sox. I could see him about $4-5MM higher. They really should try to lock him up longer term now before he gets too expensive.Devers is going to do a lot better than $15M

there was no rule 5 last year so most teams have a big list
Have u not been watching Bloom Nothing is certain at this pointDevers is 25 and making $11m this year... I just said $15 to give him an average arbitration raise.
But yes, they'll try to lock him up... There is 0% chance they go to arbitration. It is a different situation, but after fucking up Bogaerts last winter, there is no chance they screw Devers... Also to note - Devers agent is not Scott Boras...

hows story doing? other than that no big signings i just dont see them extending Devers yet but hopefully im wrongTo be fair he’s still cleaning up some of DD’s messages, Including sale and the X opt out clause

bloom and logic dont coexist togetherThis is partly why I started this thread... Aside from Chris Sale, there is nothing left to "clean-up"... Boston is in a very weird spot....
They will have a shit-load of holes to fill... And a shit-load of available cash... And, I can't imaging ownership suddenly becoming TB, so....
They might as well start with internal candidates. Extending Rafael Devers is a 'logical' first step. I can also see them re-signing JD Martinez (if it weren't for Boras)... Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the bring back Christian Vasquez!
This is also why I want to see Triston Casas now...
My wife complains about JD every stinking day for the last two years.
Mr. Double ain't getting much done lately.
He had a good albeit streaky 2021. His 2022 has been pedestrian and even that's propped up by his April/May. He's been awful since. Not even sure if I want them to extend him a QO, he could very well accept it.
I don't think that he is bad myself but this year he isn't doing much of anything to help get the $$He had a good albeit streaky 2021.
