Realistic # of Games from Marty

Going into the season, obviously Marty is going to be the #1 guy. How many games do you guys see Marty starting this season? I want you to factor in his age and his inability to stay healthy this late in his career. Im guessing 30-35.

i really thought with the trade that marty would be the backup this year. yeah sure his numbers were "good" last year but i think it sends kinda the wrong msg to this team and franchise. 41 year old goalies shouldnt be getting the "starting" job anymore. that being said i think they mean well and all but corey will def finish with a lot more games being played then marty thinking a 70/30 split

I hope you are right. I love Marty and appreciate all he has done. Even the great ones get old. It could get really interesting come play off time....if they get in.

I think you see pretty close to an even split. It'll be interesting because with the olympics there will be a condensed schedule, a lot of back to back games, I don't want either getting burnt out. I sitll think Marty may be better than Scneider, Marty will probably play about 45 or so games. If he gets hurt? Oh well we have a good backup.

I don't think you can split in the playoffs. Unless he's hurt or his game goes to absolute shit Marty starts in the playoffs. Playoffs are almost always about the goaltender getting in a rhythm, swapping goalies back and forth is just bad news.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's 50/32 split with Marty getting 50 at the beginning. Schneider might just be too good though and start taking more games. There's no question that Cory is better at this point in time.

Marty should still get the majority of the starts (if he he's healthy) out of respect. At the same time, if Schneider proves to be the better goalie I wonder if it's possible to have a goalie controversy. I still say Marty gets the nod regardless but it could be interesting. Never in Marty's career has he had a backup that could potentially outperform him. Will this be the year?

yeah marty will get the starting gig from the get go but after that once we are hitting dec it should go to whoever is playing better period.

i think with his dual citizenship schinder should be playing for team swiss no?

Before last season, when Marty struggled, and Moose was the better option, DeBoer had no problem playing Hedberg. Marty will get his fair share this season, but I think Corey will play the majority of the games.

I'll say 30-35 as a 1a option and an injury mixed in to give Schneider the majority of the games.

2003 Marty Brodeur could be in net this coming season and it wouldnt matter at this point. Unless he can play the point on the PP. Thanks a lot KovalFUCK
