I think the Niners are getting away from their identity. Kap can throw from the pocket and doesn't need gimmicks. This game proves it. They need to get back to running from under center. This team is designed for a strong run game. Gore never looked comfortable and never got into a rhythm. Too much movement and BS before the snap leads to a short playclock and wasted timeouts and penalties. Sometimes you just have to line up and play the game.

I'm sure we'll give different looks each game so that we're not predictable. We just didn't do the power running style much in this game.

Im shocked how bad the run game was but I think it was more of GB playing the run. Their goal was to stop the Run but forgot that Kap can also throw the ball.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. While Aikman and Buck were complimenting the Packers run D, the Niners were shredding them in the air.

I think GB came in this game not gonna get beat by the run. Which is why they gave up 400 yards passing. They went a little to heavy to run D in sacrificing passing D

I think we only ran 1, maybe 2 read option plays.

Handoffs out of the pistol are not automatically read option.

Speculation on twitter by Chris Brown (@smartfootball), Doug Farrar and other "football geeks" was that the only read option play was the Gore carry right before his TD. They speculated that the other keepers were called as keepers, not reads.

yup either way Kap now can say he beat the pack with his legs and with his arm. Maybe people will stop calling a running QB now. He isnt like RG3 and the others. He is a QB that looks to throw and if he needs to he will run.

He definitely looks to throw first. Anyone who says otherwise just hasn't seen him play.

Agreed. As long as you have a QB that can throw the ball well too (Kaep, Russell Wilson, RG3) so if a defense decides to focus on taking away the read, like GB, he can still kill you with his arm.

He runs some read option and nothing wrong with that. He has wheels, so why not use them? Read option is gonna be the future of the NFL, like it or not.

It blows my mind so many people think the game is all "pro style offense", sorry it's changing. All levels show that.

Not only that, GB had about 3 months to prepare for that one freaking play only. Let's see how other teams react to it when they have less than 7 days to prepare.

I don't want to dismiss the Packers D Line because they did have a great game and they were highly motivated but I think they were putting almost everything into stopping the run and read option hence the 400+ yards passing.

Which wasn't actually a bad move on their part because if they get dominated by the running game they have little chance at winning. But if you make it all about passing the odds of winning go up which is what we saw today.
