From Bill Meltzer:

* Before the game, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren gave an update on the status of Matt Read. The player, who was initially reported to be out day-to-day with an upper body injury and passed baseline concussion testing, has since been experiencing concussion-like symptoms. The symptoms are apparently still ongoing, so there is no timetable for a return.

He's definitely out through this weekend, probably will be a little longer at least I would say - hopefully he gets back sooner rather than later but it's nice to see different guys chipping in during his absence

When your head pounds and you can't focus and it won't go away, you're none to excited about getting back to getting your head jerked around. I got a couple of those playing college football and it takes awhile.

Hope he gets better soon but I really hope he takes as much time as needed. No need to rush him back. The team is firing on all cylinders right now so we can afford to have him sit out longer than he needs to. Would rather him play it safe.

You definitely don't want to come back too early after a concussion because you just prolong the full recovery time.

Based on them sending mcginn back to the phantoms, I think there's at least a decent chance read plays tomorrow. They can't be planning on dressing Rosehill, vandevelde, and downie in the same game for too long.
