I liked the Pizza parties after the soccer season was over. Then the coach handed out trophies to each player. They all said "most improved player".

Without keeping score, every game will go to a shootout and every player will get to participate in the shootout...twice (can't leave out the backup goalie).

In the real world they get no trophies but a sheet of paper saying "You fucking Lost get Over it" sub line....."Try harder next year loser" !

Hey I see a whole shit load of complaining about the new format. I just don't get it. I think it will be great and I think you will see other leagues copy this.
The biggest complaints I see are are two one I will miss 2 games against (insert team name here), I understand this it will suck to only see Philly NYR and Pitts twice instaed of four times but there is always some bad with good.
Secondly uneven conferences and if you have 8 teams in your conference it is harder to make the playoffs but I do believe this is only temporary three seasons then expansion will add two new teams and all will be even again.
In the long run I think this was designed to bring the eastern conference teams and western conference teams closer in distance traveled and I think it does that, although it would never be equal just due the great distances in the western conference compared to the east.

I stand by my bitching and moaning. I can see why someone from the East Coast doesn't mind this disaster though. If my team were on the Eastern Sea Board, I wouldn't complain.

So what is your solution? Re locate the populations of Canada and the US to equally distribute them evenly across the two countries?

I realize travel is always going to be harder on WC teams, there's nothing anybody can do about that (and that's ok). However, when you add one team to another conference to make it even HARDER than it was before, why can't I bitch and moan?

My posted solution is best. Have 2 eastern 8-team conferences and 2 western 7-team conferences. :p

I think having an all West final would be a disaster too. No offense to those teams and fans living out West, but if you play the entire series at 10/10:30 Eastern, your TV numbers from the Eastern time zone are going to plummet. And like it or not, the Eastern is your largest grouping, by a wide margin.

Even in Central time, these games wouldn't end until around midnight (assuming no OT), so most people who aren't a fan of either team but rather just hockey fans, aren't going to stay up and watch every game either.

If you add the Eastern and Central time zones, that's something like 80% of the total population.

Yes, they were. But would the league (and the teams) do the same thing if you had both teams from the Pacific timezone?

I think they did it last year to appease Boston fans since their team was in it.

I'm not sure about that, NBC calls the shots and I think regardless of the teams competing, they want that 8PM Eastern time slot.

Dash my friend but this my be true during the playoffs it's not true during the regular season.....When getting to the playoffs count.

Tell me how many Leaf games have been played at the ACC on Saturday, prime viewing nights.? The Habs at the Bell Centre?, same thing. The NHL have given priority to Canadian teams for years now. I do not remember the numbers but it blew me away!

Even if the Leafs play a Saturday game on the road it's a feature game. Same with the Habs.

Damn, on the rare occasion they have had Hockey Night in Buffalo when the Leafs play here.

The Sabres tried for years to get Saturday games here because they are prime night's


It's tough for me to hear that the NHL favors US teams when history shows otherwise.
