Ray Lewis has announced his retirement effective the end of this season!
Cited the fear or "THE BROWN SYSTEM" in Cincy as the # 1 reason.

QUOTE:
" What theyre doing in Cincy, man that offense, I don't see how I can compete at an elevated level facing that offense twice a year, that's it, I'm done, outa here. The Brown System is for real. all you haters, the Bengals will be a dynasty for years to come."

I wonder if this announcement right now hurts or helps the Ravens though.

No one wants to let Rey go out without another SB in Baltimore, so I wonder if this adds stress to the players to do more than they normally would to try and help insure he keeps moving on in the playoffs, and they take themselves out of position, go for the knock out blow to jar a ball loose instead of wrapping up, etc. It could motivate them to be great, or it could make them overdue and push beyond their limits and make mistakes.

I guess only time will tell which this announcement may have done.

Top 3 ever for sure though. Maybe #1. Too subjective though, because I never really got to see some of the other greats on that list play.

I don't know.... Ray gets them all jazzed up for every game anyway. Sooner or later, it's just a part of the game. If the Ravens get consistent play on offense they'll be dangerous. If they don't, they'll be toast.

True enough. But usually Rey has taken on that burden himself which has left everyone else to just go out and play. Noty he has filled the roles and put the pressure on the rest of his teammates in my opinion.

While I agree, Rey always has them pumped, the pumped attitude has always allowed them to play fast because Rey had their backs. Now he has gone from the Atlas to World, and I wonder if the rest of the team buckles under that kind of weight.

Doesn't really matter to me to be honest. I would like to see the AFC North represent and hopefully we can play them in the AFC Championship game. I doubt either team makes it there, as once again, I think it is going to be Manning vs. Brady, round 296.
