1. A-Rod
2. Pujols
3. Manny
4. Frank Thomas
5. Miggy

Hard to rank Trout at this point and I don't believe Trout has hit his true prime yet...crazy. Weird ranking Miggy last, that's how good this list is. Frank Thomas is underrated as well.

Just to be clear, this is only hitting. No fielding included.

The other two are filthy cheaters and don't deserve to be mentioned in the same context as the others.

If I need to add Trout then he goes last. Miggy had a great prime and he is at Trout. Better homerun hitter, better RBI guy, better hitter. Trout was better at getting on base. Actually since Miggy is a better pure hitter he would jump Frank.

1. A-Rod
2. Pujols
3. Manny
4. Miggy
5. Frank Thomas
6. Trout

If we're talking about prime and it is just hitting I think my first instinct is that I have Pujols above A-Rod. I'm surprised that no one has so far.

Pujols Peak is comparable to Trout but I think Trout's above especially if you factor in speed.

Arod was great and feared but part of it was what he was doing at his position. His individual peaks were not better than Trout or Pujols or even Miggy or Manny or Frank. But he did it at the toughest defensive position.

Frank Thomas had the highest Peak as far as OPS+ is concerned. Comfortably above Trout. Trout would just have seasons 2, 3, and 4 highest comparing the two.

My order:

1. Pujols
2. Rodriguez
3. Trout
4. Frank Thomas
5. Miggy
6. Manny

Manny is a clear last place...

Thomas and Miggy are near tie...

Trout and A-rod are so close IMO...

Think back on it A-Rod and Pujols could definitely be swapped bc this is just prime, although the added speed by A-Rod does help him not enough. Pujols should be #1 on my list.

pujols is the clear best IMO... but for unfair reasons... He was lights out in the playoffs... Sure postseason does not matter in regular season stats... But the post season does create legends out of stars...

so anytime there is a close race for something, I will always take my post-season observations...

That is also what hurts trout on my list... as he rarely had opportunities to do anything...

But Trout is still Clearly better than miggy, Thomas and many...

A rod
Trout
Miggy/Pujols
Manny
Frank

I think you're overrating Miggy here....his best years collectively weren't as good as Pujols' nor Thomas' best years offensively.

Based solely on hitting

Trout
Thomas
Pujols (if we go by his pre-Angels numbers, I'd put him ahead of Thomas)
Manny
Miggy
A-Rod

A-Rod's the best player though.

People keep mentioning speed so I think we need some further clarification. Are we talking about "hitting" or "offense"? I assumed that since these guys weren't on the basepaths swinging their bats it didn't matter how they ran the bases (except in how it may have gotten them more hits/total bases but which is already being counted elsewhere).

If we are talking about stricting hitting why are people saying Trout is at the top or close to it. He is far from the best hitter. He is outstanding at getting on base, drawing walks but and putting up big power numbers but not the best hitter.

Miggy
Thomas
Pujols
Manny

All better hitters. All better at driving in runs but I won't hold that against Trout bc he went from 7th to 2nd to now finally 3rd in the batting order the past 3 years or so.
