I think Kelly has a spot on this pen but Smith I would rest and use for spot outings against LHBs

They would have to DFA someone to add Kelly who I was putting on the 40 this offseason to protect him. So go for it

Not seen his interview which I heard was a stand up situation but have to feel for a guy who answers the call regardless. Doubt if he can in this season with aspirations of the closer role

He never came across as a guy afraid but only missing the tools. Has to be crushing.

True. The pen is going to have to be totally rebuilt with quality relievers from the ground up

I do feel bad for him but he only has one pitch and has been improperly used all season.

Hopefully he is no longer with Texas next season. But I wish him well.

Not a single player has confidence in the pen and not a single starting pitcher has confidence in the offensive players. This team has internal confidence problems

He was one of the 16 relievers I identified the other day as ones I hope they go after. I don't have to have him if they sign enough quality guys without him, but I definitely wouldn't mind if he was included.

I’m sure Will Smith is a nice and stand-up guy. But he, along with all of our other bullpen failures who are probably super nice guys as well, don’t need to wear the Rangers uniform ever again. I compare it to Elvis’s last year with the Rangers, when he was so bad he was hurting the team. It was very hard for me as a fan to watch, because I had not only met Elvis on multiple occasions but also hung out with him for quite a while with the rest of the players and their families after games. Elvis is as genuinely nice of a guy as you will find in MLB. I will always be an Elvis Andrus fan. As a fan, you WANT to root for the good guys like Elvis. But he was hurting the team with his performance, just like Will Smith is now. At that point, they have to go. Same thing happened with Joey Gallo. Super nice guy. Owned up to every one of his strikeouts. Admitted he had a big problem with whiffing, was even able to make fun of himself for it. Zero ego. But he had to go.

I wish our bullpen guys nothing but the best. But every last one of them except for maybe Stratton needs to go. Brock Burke seems salvageable with the right coaching or a mental reset, because he has put up decent numbers before. So maaaaaybe keep him. Maybe.
