i'm concerned about how some are blowing off this hip issue and drop off in pitch speed but are adamant about staying away from someone like Oswalt
At his age a hip inury will probably effect pitch location more than velocity. The thing about Oswalt is that he may not be seen as an upgrade over what we already have.
Colby is making around $3.5 million this year if I'm not mistaken. That is a BARGAIN for a guy who has been money in the post season and will get you 10-14 wins in the regular season. He should be the 3rd guy in the rotation once everything shakes out.
I'm not sure what more you guys want from the guy. He kept the Rangers in the biggest game of the franchise's history.
so we agree, the hip injury affected pitch location and pitch speed which explains why he led the AL in homeruns allowed.
well reading scouting reports it seems that most of them feel that Oswalt will be highly sought after and that the Rangers will be one of the teams looking to sign him. and according to some reports they will pursue him even if they sign CJ.
I'll leave the rumor reports to you. Till I see it, it's just off season chatter. Same as we see every year. I'm not opposed to signing him, I'm just not sure he's an upgrade over what we have. Where would you put him?
In the final analysis the home run total didn't mean much when it got down to the nut cutting. He was money in the playoffs.
so why are you here? there's nothing else to talk about but rumors
The agent for Roy Oswalt told Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports that the right-hander is healthy and "definitely looking for a long-term contract" this offseason. Bob Garber said Oswalt feels ***8220;great,***8221; even after two back-related stints on the disabled list in 2011.
I'm not totally sold on ogando in the rotation until he develops a good off speed pitch.
