I don't care for that whiskey steak.

Gimme Farmer Browns or Anthony's. Jest plain ol' beef thrown on the grill.

I've heard about the Poodle and driven by it, but never been. In Crescent right?

Right.

It's been years agot that I went. Probably about 15 or so but they sit ya down, bring out your salad and a hot crock of soup and hot loaf of bread for the table (me and my wife).

Then we both ordered the prime rib since that is what they are known for. The prime rib just melts in your mouth. I like most steaks rare but prime rib usually medium because of all the fat. I had medium rare and it was delicious. Fat was trimmed off before it came to the table and it was a huge slice. Add the baked potato with butter, sour cream and chives. It literally was a meal for a king.

Heard they changed owners though... in past 5 years or so...not sure if true?

and... is that the place off 72nd up there... by a hospitol or something if I remember?... Regular steak was pretty good but if I remember, it was small and dark as heck in there... took a while for our eye's to adjust...

If you cross the river into Couniltucky there is a place called Pizza King on east Broadway. Hands down our favorite spot for prime rib. We will be dumping our diet tomorrow so we can go there to celebrate our 30th anniversary.
I have had steaks at all of the best places in Omaha. I think Mr C's was my favorite, with Anthony's a close second.
BUT, if you want something different, nothing beat Joe Tess for fish. I don't even know if they are open anymore.

Mr "C's was pretty good too if I remember... but some of you may be a little pale to head down that way these days....

BRS on of the best places! If you left Mr. C or Caniglias ( south Omaha) hungry it was your own fault. Also at Mr. C's the owner (Yano) Mr C would always sing song and it was Christmas year round in his building!!!

Rudy's off of 20th and L for fish. I don't know if it's there any more. Was just an old tavern that sold buffalo carp sandwiches. Rudy was Tess's first cook if I have received the gossip right through out the years.

GI Forum also is down in the same area for Mexican and the best mixed drinks.

Mr. C's closed years ago so stay away from that area. Rudy's closed also. Tess is still open.

I had the Pink Poodle last fall and the prime rib was great. Johnny's Italian Steakhouse in Villiage Point has the best food in Omaha period, but it can get costly if your taking a group there and are paying for it. Swine Dinning BBQ in Bellevue (old Bellevue Gun Shop on Mission) has amazing pulled pork, beef brisket, chicken or smoked sausage sammiches for $5.50 and sides are $1.35 each plus a little more for Pop - Ribs there are fantastic as is the half chicken - prices are reasonable, lunches at Swine Dinning are packed by Offutt personnel.

Except for Thursday taco night at the GI Forum - which I had last night - I love Netties on railroad avenue just south of Harrison street.

Howards is open on 13th street one block north of the New South O bridge in the old Marchio's building. I used to eat there all the time but two bad meals nixed that.

I had dinner at Mr C's for Prom my junior year! It was Christmas in March for sure!!

It also amazes me how opinionated people are when it comes to food. Half of these places I've never heard of but will now have to check out sometime.

Anybody been to Jonesy's Taco House near 60th and Pacific? Go there for some good taco's then walk on over to the Trackside Lounge for a true hole in the wall, you don't fit in here, experience!!

I'll always have a special place in my heart for Barrett's Barleycorn on Leavenworth. They have great bar food and if you're looking for a heart attack try the Barneystone. So good. I also loved playing volleyball there and diving head first into the fence.

The only bad thing about the place is it tends to be a Creighton hang out, but as we know Creighton fans only turn out for about 5 months of the year, so the rest of the year you're good to go.
