Hopefully Luck won't be ready week 1.
I get the distinct suspicion that McVay may be the second coming of Chuck Knox.
If you can recall, Retro usually speaks in terms of the OG Chuck. In his first stint, Chuck never failed to win the NFC West.Original Chuck Knox? Or the early 90's I'll destroy the team for Queen Bitch Georgia Knox???
As Vita has clarified, I always refer to most of anything to do with the Rams prior to the arrival of the Queen idiot's handling of the team and that frikin' jerk-off John Shaw unless specifically noted!
Chuck Knox was famous for his ground attack, so much so they called it Ground Chuck...I hear ya... My memories of Knox are bad ones, so for me, I hear that name and get annoyed

He also was Coach of the Year in 73', 80' & 84'. This is important because the NFL game was drastically changing around him and his ability to be effective in a system that he employed.
Check out this chart, and maybe you can see it was the Rams organization plugging in a coach who's philosophy and strengths just didn't fit the direction of the League.
The timeline in this chart shows Chuck last won Coach of the Year about the last time that Rushing dominated the game.
And looking at the final years of Knox's coaching career (With the LA Rams, 92'-94') we see a drastic change taking place in the NFL.
Couple that with the wholesale changes from Fronteire and Shaw, and it's no wonder the Rams were destine to fail.
I see it as calculated and cunning in an attempt to eventually strike a deal like they did with the highly NFL thirsty St Louis community.
