I get the distinct suspicion that McVay may be the second coming of Chuck Knox.

Original Chuck Knox? Or the early 90's I'll destroy the team for Queen Bitch Georgia Knox???

If you can recall, Retro usually speaks in terms of the OG Chuck. In his first stint, Chuck never failed to win the NFC West.

As for Chuck destroying the team, I disagree with you. Chuck doubled the team's win total from the previous season from 3-13 to 6-10 despite Georgia and J. Shaw dismantling the team in the process. It was obvious to all here that they were well on their way to destroying the team for many years prior to Chuck's arrival.

As Vita has clarified, I always refer to most of anything to do with the Rams prior to the arrival of the Queen idiot's handling of the team and that frikin' jerk-off John Shaw unless specifically noted!

Fisher was over-matched in preparing the team for Game One the previous two years - blowout losses to the Vikings and 49'ers! I'm still steaming!

I'm very optimistic that we can take the Colts in our first game this year. First of all, Indy is over-rated. Poor offensive line. Weak secondary. Our defense can get to Luck. Time of possession will be the decidng factor in this game. Greg's leg wins it!

Chuck Knox was famous for his ground attack, so much so they called it Ground Chuck...

He also was Coach of the Year in 73', 80' & 84'. This is important because the NFL game was drastically changing around him and his ability to be effective in a system that he employed.

Check out this chart, and maybe you can see it was the Rams organization plugging in a coach who's philosophy and strengths just didn't fit the direction of the League.

The timeline in this chart shows Chuck last won Coach of the Year about the last time that Rushing dominated the game.

And looking at the final years of Knox's coaching career (With the LA Rams, 92'-94') we see a drastic change taking place in the NFL.

Couple that with the wholesale changes from Fronteire and Shaw, and it's no wonder the Rams were destine to fail.

I see it as calculated and cunning in an attempt to eventually strike a deal like they did with the highly NFL thirsty St Louis community.

I know him for two things... I remember him as a great coach for the Seahawks for a while and what I mentioned already(the absolute destruction of our team for his good buddy)....

I realize he did some great things before, but I'm still bitter(obviously) :suds::lol:

 WOW! An optimistic prediction from TEB!!

Hey brother, I plan to go to the Arizona game this season, I remember when I went last we were to meet at some bar nearby, and I ended up going there an hour early because we brain farted about the time change.

Let me know if you're still around them parts and if you would like share a little pregame party. I'm sure Retro will try to join as well.
