Riley contract would be good with me. I'd just as soon see Rak as a situational pass rusher. At the very least, I hope Barry uses him -- and Kerrigan -- to rush the QB on obvious passing downs. Remember when Haslett said he was "shackled" by Shanny in using both Rak and Kerrigan in pass rushing situations? Well, that dolt continued to send both of them in to pass coverage on passing downs too. Good riddance and I hope Barry does a better job of using our OLBs as pass rushers.

I believe he is washed up

Some thought Landry was washed up too, but considering the bums that have marched through here since, dont you wish just a little we had kept him??

No bidding war, but would like to bring him back. He can play. Maybe not what we expected year in and year out, but he's had some very good years here.

Can't speak for others, but I say absolutely not. So he basically had a good season - big deal. He did more than enough on this team to warrant being shipped elsewhere. IMO a waste of a high draft pick for the Redskins.

Can you imagine a safety tandem of Landry and Taylor -- the old Area 51 we all had imagined?

Brian Orakpo: Latest News, Rumors and Speculation Surrounding Free-Agent OLB | Bleacher Report

Rak is almost certainly gone. If he goes to the ATL, we face them this year. If so, it'll be interesting to see how he does against us -- that is, of course, if he doesn't get hurt before then.

You know what? Playing against him wouldn't bother me. T Williams will win that battle most of the time. Unfortunately rak never really lived up to expectations. I know, some will point to his PB appearances, but all but one of those he backed into. The reality is that he has underperformed based on his draft position. Of course injuries have contributed, but that's life in the NFL.

If they can sign him to a reasonable contract, maybe a $4m one year deal with prove it bonuses, I'm ok with that. But it appears to me that we have seen the best of Rak, I expect he is on the downside of his career, if for no other reason that his injuries.

Excerpt

In fact, this looks a more like a courtesy conversation by the Redskins than it does a serious contract negotiation. The team doesn’t want to let Orakpo, who has been nothing but a class act since coming to town in 2009, just leave without at least putting some sort of an offer on the table.

This is in part because it’s the right thing to do regarding Orakpo but it’s also good to remain in the good graces of Ben Dogra, Orakpo’s agent. Dogra also happens to represent Robert Griffin III. The Redskins could be entering some tricky negotiations involving their quarterback and it can’t hurt to have a dialogue with the agent in advance of those sessions.

Yes...that was why they drafted him...to be alongside Taylor.....Gibbs was a wise man....they would have been a dominate safety tandem for sure.....Sadly.....we will never know
