gillis is stunned ("Strongly disagree"), AV is stunned ("no logic" - also, we will be shorthanded tonight, as the league took it's sweet-assed time in handing down a decision)
and Torres stands by the clean hit story On second thought, Torres stands by hit - The White Towel

Murph suggests we were penalized for wrapping up the Pres trophy too early - last 2 games are meaningless, so they went more.

I wonder if the following from Kevin Lowe had any impact on the Wheel of Justice:

"I strongly believe the only way this stuff will end is if the NHL puts its foot down on lengthy suspensions," said Kevin Lowe, the Oilers president of hockey operations.

"they" are saying that because Torres was a winger he shouldnt have been that deep in the zone (ie he went out of position to throw a head shot)

i just dont know how they can formulate that his intent was to throw a head shot ... no doubt he was stalking and wanted to completely ventilate an opposition player ... probably to spark his team late in a game ... if Eberle was upright the Torres hit would have been front and centre on NHL.com the next morning

i agree ... he made contact with the head ... and should get 2 games ... Heatleys elbow on Ott was much more blatant an act and it just got 2 games

to me its crap to say oh these 2 regular season games mean nothing for the canucks or torres ... he loses salary

*cough* Steve Moore hit on Naslund *cough*

they have new rules ... Im ok with a 2 game suspension ... if Eberle wasnt down low reaching it probably would have been a thundering shoulder on chest hit ... It wasnt like Torres raised his elbow to make contact

Oh yeah the hit itself was clean as could be. But with the new rules on head shots and saying he didn't care that Eberle was in a vulnerable position wasn't exactly smart either. I'm really surprised he got 4 games.

Seems like Torres was the player the NHL made an example of. Now if only they can be consistent here on out.

That's exactly why I am surprised. Playoff suspensions are pretty rare and this hit, while it was bad, didn't look like a hit that would force Colin to suspend Torres into the playoffs.

Hell Pronger rammed Holmstrom's head into the glass a few years back and got a whopping one game*

I guess the big wheel keeps on turnin'

*I know, 'the Pronger rule' applies.

One round later he puts an elbow directly into Dean McAmmond's dome, an even worse offense IMO, and he gets... ONE GAME! The Homer hit I could buy one game, I would have preferred more, but I'll buy one. The McAmmond hit should have drawn 10+ games.

4 games is too much to me by a hair.

He should have gotten 2 games at most. Eberle never played the puck, yet Torres not only hits him but makes the head the primary point of contact.

That being said it was part of a real hockey play. It wasn't like Torres decided after the play had gotten past him to hit a guy in the head.

Torres should perhaps be suspended for being a douchebag-retard, but the NHL doesn't work that way. Why the fuck would a player hit to hurt in a game that means NOTHING to either team? What a tool!!

Feel for Raffi Torres. Felt it was a clean hit. Scared that we are taking out 1 of 3 elements fans cheer for. Hits/Fights/Goals. Thoughts?

I absolutely agree with suspension of acts from Cooke, Heatley etc. Also think that Raffi's hit would be played on a majority of hit reels

At many arenas. All players I asked on #DallasStars thought it was a clean hit before suspension. We as players are paid an
