Even a SI writer thinks Harbaugh is full of himself.

There's plenty of coaches that are hated by opposing fans. Carroll is hated by nearly everyone outside of Seattle. It just isn't that uncommon to have a coach that isn't highly regarded by opposing fans. Now Harbaugh has made irritating behavior into a near art form, but really, if he wasn't who he is this would just be another game against 2 playoff seeking teams in the same division.

So you have a sliding scale of what you deem more douche-baggey then others? Both are bad sportsmanship. What degree is irrelevant. "A competitive comment" is still horse shit in comparison to a simple "good game coach".

Yes, anything douchebaugh does is by definition more douchebaggish.

I can't imagine Carroll would say or do anything as absurd as douchebaugh after a win.

But he certainly has no problem saying something after a loss.

Saying "we'll be back" after a loss is pretty douchey too. Again, a quick "good game coach" would have sufficed.

Saying "We'll be back" sounds competitive and not a insult at all to the person your talking to. True it would be better to give congrads. but it's not douchey IMO at all.

If I don't really know you too well and we coached against each other, my team loses, and the ONLY thing I say is "we'll be back" as opposed to a simple "good game", that IS douchey IMO. As a coach, I get this kind of crap here and there occasionally from other coaches and it shows zero professional courtesy. If it is a friend of mine and he says that, it is different because there is a good chance we will probably grab a beer later and dissect that game.

Dre I once heard a radio interview of a former fellow Pac 10 ( Now Pac 12) coach talking about Harbaugh behavior as a opposing coach and let me tell you he left no doubt Harbaugh was consider the biggest douch as a coach among his fellow Pac coaches. I can't provide a link, but there is no doubt in my mind Harbaugh as a person is way way way bigger douch then PC ever thought of being. That doesn't stop at opposing coaches, it extends to the media and others he considers unimportant. The only use he has for the media is to lobby to influence the referee.
I understand 49ers fans standing behind him, because he's a damn good coach, but lets agree he's not a very nice guy by nature. While PC has his faults, not being a good guy at heart isn't one of them.

Quit being a homer, harbaugh is the sporting worlds biggest douche. But he is yours. Just accept reality.

If you had more proof on Carroll I might be persuadable, but all we have is "we'll be back". There is a mountain of evidence that harbaugh is a giant douche, from his post game coach meetups to his weekly interviews with opposing teams beat writers.

I really don't care what two coaches, college or NFL, say to each other as long as it's not a threat or a slur. With egos that big, douchebaggery of some sort is to be expected. It's nice to think that everybody is professional all the time, but it's pretty unrealistic to expect guys who are, in a lot of cases, the BMOC to not let it go to their heads. Besides, few things are more entertaining than watching coaches in their 30's and older acting like 5 year olds with the vocabulary of a kid first learning how to curse making sure everybody knows that they're learning how to curse.

Harbaugh Lands, but He's Out for the Count

It's what you have probably come to expect from the winless Indianapolis Colts this season: Angry at barbs thrown at him by broadcaster and former Buffalo quarterback Jim Kelly, quarterback Jim Harbaugh threw a punch--and instead of popping him in the nose, he missed.

Instead, Kelly's head intercepted the blow.

And as a result, Harbaugh fractured his throwing hand, and will be sidelined without pay.

Harbaugh, until now best known for taking a pounding and rallying the Colts as Captain Comeback, went looking Saturday for Kelly, who was in San Diego preparing to broadcast the game with Indianapolis the next day.

Kelly, a co-host of "Sneak Preview," a local TV show in Buffalo, had called Harbaugh a "baby" several weeks ago and suggested that Harbaugh "overdramatized" his injuries.

Harbaugh, who was not scheduled to play against the Chargers on Sunday after spraining his ankle a week earlier, crashed an NBC production meeting, which had been scheduled for Kelly and several of Harbaugh's teammates, and a confrontation ensued.

"I regret throwing the punch, but I felt I had to do something since my toughness was being questioned," said Harbaugh, who reportedly smacked Kelly in the head. "I regret that I have a crack in one of my bones in my hand."

Harbaugh and Indianapolis team officials declined to reveal blow-by-blow details, and the judge's scoring.

"Jim and I settled it, and came to an understanding," said Harbaugh, while obviously claiming a TKO. "I consider this something personal between Jim Kelly and I." And now millions of football fans across the country.

Harbaugh was in uniform for Sunday's game, but was listed as the No. 3 quarterback. NBC, which prides itself in reporting inside NFL news, neglected to mention Saturday's incident, and the Colts also remained mum.

After a cable network learned of the incident Monday, the Colts announced that Harbaugh will be placed on the non-football injured list and will forfeit his salary until he is cleared to play, which could be as soon as two weeks from now.

Harbaugh, who will lose an estimated $140,000 per week until he is able to play, can live off the $4-million signing bonus he received last year after signing a $13-million contract. He will continue to count on the 53-man roster but will be deactivated each week until he can perform his normal duties, the team said.

Kelly had infuriated Harbaugh after offering some advice on TV to his former Buffalo teammates before their Sept. 21 game with the Colts.

Kelly said the Bills needed to "hit Harbaugh in the mouth," which would rattle him. He also scoffed at Harbaugh's reputation for being "Captain Comeback," and said Harbaugh's five come-from-behind victories as a Colt hardly put him in the same category as Miami's Dan Marino or Denver's John Elway.

No, but he's right there now with Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield.

"It is one of his peers saying something that he took very personal and Jim wanted to visit with him in a professional manner," said Bill Tobin, the Colt director of football operations.

Both are less than sportsman-like moves, but if you can't see how slapping someone's hand and saying 'how about that ricky?' after you beat them is FAR FAR FAAAAR worse than 'we will be back' after a loss, then your homerism is showing big time. They are night and day situations.

I forgot he punched Jim Kelly in the face. Like I said, the biggest douche in the sporting world, hands down.

I can't wait til the Niners start to fade and douchebaugh is on the hot seat, his own fans defending him now will start to hate him like everyone else does.
