Release the Kraken - Fuck the Canucks
I would imagine most of you probably didn't just listen to KJR sports radio and hear the weekly interview with former pac12 coach Rick Neuheisel. While the discussion is always about the games coming up in the Pac12 and other happenings around college football, today's discussion turned to Pete Carroll and Jim Harblah and his experience with both of them.
It is too recent for the full audio to be posted online, but at some point it will be available here:
Mitch in the Morning
I'll give a brief paraphrased summary here.
When asked about his history with both he said they genuinely hate each other. He brought up the coaches meetings and gave the example that Pete used to have referees at his practices and Jim brought up that he wanted a rule to disallow it. He said there was an exchange between them on it that went something like: Pete: Why do we need a rule on that? Jim: Not everyone can do that so why should you be able to.

He said there was lots of that and it was obvious they really didn't like each other.
If that was all there was it would still be a good bit of insight, but there was more. He said neither of them liked him either and when asked if he was just saying that he gave the these examples:
He asked if Mitch remembered Jim's hand slap of Schwartz and said after their first meeting when he was at UCLA Stanford won the game and he did the same type of hand slap and said.... get this...
How 'bout that Ricky

Classic man. I can so see him saying/doing that. Rick said he asked in his head at the time "Did he really just say that?"
Now, he said his first encounter with Pete was while he was at Washington and Pete was in his first year at USC and after that game when UW won on a last second field goal they met at mid field and Pete's response was "we'll be back".
So both HC's are sort of strong personalities. And both were less than sportsmanship like at the midfield post game handshake.
Bottom line is both HC's really do hate each other and both are really as competitive against each other as they appear.
Can't wait for this game to get here man.
