An all time great funk/soul/rock fusion innovator. It's actually surprising that he made it to 82 given his all of his drug and health issues. RIP
There are those who changed the game...

Then there are those who completely rewrote the mother fucker.

An absolute legend.

Can't remember the circumstances but Sly cancelled a concert at MSU... was in the days/months after Woodstock... seemed to be an arrogant move that pissed off a lot of fans... am pretty sure they also declined participation at the AUG1970 Goose Lake Festival outside of Jackson, MI that drew a quarter million. Dunno, mebbe Sly just didn't like Michigan or something. RIP

It was mostly due to disagreements between them and their management.
Plus rampant drug and alcohol use caused various issues, infighting and legal challenges.
It's all been documented.

yeah... me too... :poke: and you and everybody else... gawd those were fun days, weren't they?

got a picture somewhere stashed with hunnerts of others in shoeboxes... of me sitting alone in a sea of seats at Jennison Fieldhouse where Sly was to have played. (they actually opted out way earlier than that night... but our tickets had the gig date printed on them - to remind us... and we were -as per normal- space tripping anyway that night... we snuck into Jennison and played a cassette of Stand.)

Dang :pout: one of my all-time favorite artists. Even my kids know most of his songs, that's how much we played him in the house.

Hope he's soul clappin' in heaven

I don't think anyone didn't like their music, which is pretty much unheard of.. universal popular and critical acclaim.
