TMZ is reporting Rhodes suffered a fall in his home in Orlando yesterday morning and was taken to a local hospital.

“Officials tell us … emergency personnel responded to Dusty’s home in Orlando, FL at 5:56 AM Wednesday morning after getting a call reporting a 69-year-old male had taken a fall,” reports TMZ.

The report goes on to note Rhodes suffered “numerous complications” throughout the day on Wednesday which ultimately lead to his death.

I have been a wreck almost all day. If i chose Pro Wrestling as my career (can't now because of a kidney transplant from 2 years ago) he would have been my Idol in the biz. My Favorite wrestler of all time

Beat me to it. My favorite Dusty quote. He was great. Probably the most charismatic wrestler to ever do it. I dare anyone to sit down and watch his promos and not be entertained. Really sad to see him go. He was still employed by WWE and spent his time training wrestlers in NXT. His presence was definitely a big part for the guys coming up. Wow, what a shock and a shame. He is one of the best of all time, and one of the most influential wrestlers there have ever been. This resulted from a fall? Oh man. R.I.P.

I used to watch him on TBS in the early 80's. He was apparently in his early-mid 30's then but he looked late 40's so I am surprised that he was only 69.

He cut a good promo and had some interesting angles (the Midnight Rider gig he used after losing the loser leaves town match was entertaining), but his ringwork was a bit lacking at times. He had the atomic elbow and not much else! Fun to watch him though.
