Suspendable?

If you can find different camera angles, please post them.

Honestly, it reminds me of Steve Moore on Markus Naslund with the main difference being I don't think Quincey had the intent that Moore did.

NHL Rule Book concerning defenseless players:
The onus is on the player applying the check to ensure his opponent is not in a defenseless position and if so, he must avoid or minimize the contact.

The fact that Anisimov was off balance has nothing to do with it. Anisimov was actively being checked and fighting for position with White, when Quincey looked to the side, saw him coming and leaned into him to apply the hit, leading with an elbow/forearm. Anisimov went off balance and said elbow hit him in the face at the exact same time Anisimov's skates hit Quincey's causing him to fall to the left, the direction he was already flailing and subsequently driving Anisimov's head into the ice with the same elbow. Not exactly "minimizing the hit".

Had Quincy not been trying to hit a player who was already being checked by a teammate he would have fallen over straight back and never made contact with Anisimov other than skates to skates. And wouldn't have had his ankle rolled in the process.

And of course, Anisimov wouldn't have had his brains scrambled.

Suspendable? I don't know. Quincey has no history and he plays for a team where Mr Discipline won a cup. But it was certainly a cheap move to try and hit a guy who was fighting for position with someone else. Leading with an elbow to do it is dirty, no matter where you thought it was going to land.

But as Tootoo proved earlier, the Red Wings have no qualms about jumping in where they don't belong.

His sucker punch should be suspended. That one will likely happen.

...

Didn't look that way to me when viewing the 2nd video clip. IMO, Quincy was moving to get around Calvert, & had no idea that Anisimov was there.

A Red Wing delivered the hit?

10 game suspension.

You probably thought Franzen deserved at least a life-time ban.

If you look real close at the video, slow-it way down, you can also see Quincey taking the time beween the initial contact along the boards and Anisimov's leg making contact with his, to finish balancing his check book.

Oh and let's just forget about the cheapshots Dorsett gave Tootoo after the linesman was covering him and he couldn't counter cheapshot him.

Dorsett is an idiot, but I think getting sucker punched by a third man into a fight and getting his nose broken probably pissed him off a bit.

But we're not talking about either one of those dirtbags. We're talking about Kyle Quincey falling forearms first.

Really??? thought I seen the name Tootoo in post 3, well ok.

Then here's my opinion on the Quincey Anisimov accident; it was just that a very unfortunate accident. Watch the whole thing in real time, not slowed down, Quincey didn't have time to think, nor did he see Anisimov coming.

I hope Anisimov makes a complete and speedy recovery. Unfortunate accident.

The second view makes it look an awful lot to me like Quincey was trying to move around (is that name Calvert?) to get to the puck, never saw Anisimov, who was falling into his legs, and the combination of Quincey's motion toward the puck and having his legs taken out from under him by Anisimov resulted in the awkward collision.
