Tavon Austin's stop-and-go quickness is second to none. Cooks is very quick, but Austin is absolutely off the charts in that regard.

Not even close as prospects, IMO.

I can see what you mean.

Cooks might be better then T. Austin. Imagine getting him with pick 30.

Cooks doesn't play like Austin. He plays more like Maclin(ish) despite having different measurables. Its also weird to see how often Cooks is covered and making contested catches as opposed to being open

I could probably come up with a better player comparison than Maclin but its definitely not Tavon Austin

The comparison I've heard is Steve Smith.

If 49ers want to target one of these exciting, explosive, elusive players, go no further than Dri Archer in the 4th.

If the 49ers do that, then they will eat a large helping of humble pie and cut LMJ.

I'd be thrilled with Cooks at 30.

Me too at this point. If we can get the next Steve Smith- I'm all for it. He interviews really well and checks out as far as toughness, character, production, and intelligence. A blazing 40 time doesn't hurt either. He thinks he can play on the outside too (like Smith) and not have to just be a slot guy. With the way he gets the ball in traffic-I can see it.

People need to stop calling him the next Steve Smith IMO. Cooks is a terrible blocker, and he's nowhere near as tough as Steve Smith. I think he's the next Desean Jackson or Mike Wallace.

I can see the Desean Jackson comparison, but the Mike Wallace comparison- not so much. Steve Smith wasn't as tough and as good of a blocker as he is now compared to when he was coming into the NFL- he developed that. Cooks can so the same. Cooks's explosiveness, elusiveness, and ability to get a ball against a bigger DB remind me of Smith. He also has return skills similar to Smith coming into the NFL.

Funny I always kinda thought Wallace & Jackson were pretty similar players. Great deep threats, extremely agile, not extremely tough or great fighting for the ball.

You're right; Cooks could develop into a Steve Smith kind of player (I don't know that he will; he's an atrocious blocker). If he wants to get there he could stand to gain maybe 5 to 10 pounds though.

Cooks isn't going to be there at 30, if we want him we will have to trade up for him. That being said, I would love to see Cooks in a 49ers jersey as long as we don't have to give up too much in order to trade to get him.

I think you're right about that. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go top 10 like Austin did.

In a different draft I would agree but this draft is extremely deep at WR.

I agree with King here. I think Cooks might end up to be better. He has better hands and like King said he is more physical.

I hope we land him.
