For all of you who are more familiar with this stuff than I am, which is to say, everyone here.

If the Pens attempt to send POS(which is what I will call Cooke from now on) to SWB, he must be waived. If he is claimed, the Pens pay 1/2 salary and the other team pays 1/2, right?

My question is, what if he isn't claimed? I seem to recall in the '09? season we did this with Miro Satan and his salary didn't count toward the cap since he wasn't playing for the big club and had cleared waivers.

Is there any possible way to send POS to SWB? Because if we could pull that off, and then either suspend or healthy scratch him for the rest of the year, I'd be very happy.

As it stands, he makes me want to :puke:

If we could get away with it, great idea.

I would trade him for Avery at this point, that's how fed up I am.

if he is claimed the other team pays 100% of his salary, but he CANT play for that team for the rest of the season and playoffs. he starts anew next year. if he clears he comes off the cap 100% but you still pay him his full salary. if he clears and then is recalled and claimed you pay 1/2 his salary and he still cant play for that team this year.

he would play for the SWB team (is that wilkes barrie?) or they could sit him is mario feels like not playing him again and then try to either work a deal to send him to europe (then you dont have to pay him) or let him sit collecting a salary. if you buy him out its 50% of the salary over 2 times the length of the contract I believe so if its 2 years at $2M each its 4 years at $500K per year (I think Im fuzzy on this one). but I also believe you cant do this mid year it has to be at a certain time of year.

Im pretty sure these are the options. or he serves suspension and plays again this year with no recourse from the Pens

Thanks for the info, I would hope and assume the Pens front office is exploring all of these options.

SWB= Scranton/Wilkes Barre by the way. POS should be self explanatory.

I just want the little effer off of this team...forever. Enough is enough. I believe when Mario talks about the head shots being removed he is sincere. Now's the time to show everyone how sincere he is.

I would love to see this happen as well. just for the example to other players. that if they are not going to respect it then the teams can start and you will not have the right to play in the league. but there are probably 20 teams that would take him :( still

i have kind of a spin-off question.. we'll change the situation a bit and say its before the trade deadline so normal waivers are in effect.. would the pens be allowed to send him down if he got suspended to get rid of his cap hit, or is the cap hit already removed once he gets suspended?

thats a good one. I actually dont think you can send one down after suspension before or after the deadline.

my guess is if the cap hit doesn't come off immediately when the player is suspended, then they cant send him down..

but i dont know if the cap hit comes off immediately :o

cap hit doesnt come off on suspensions. or at least I dont think it should. that would be a circumvention of the cap I would think.

Nhlnumbers website always calculated the cap hit with the suspension coming off the cap. I remember Danny Briere got suspended one year the Flyers were in cap hell, and that actually freed up enough space to make a roster move.
