Should be a good one tonight. Both teams could really use the points, but neither are desperate for the points.

I know this is at my teams expense, but Ive always loved the Cartman San Jose Shark videos they play at Staples when these two teams meet.

They could really use them, but realistically now that Calgary is out, they are in a mix of 5 teams where 4 will make the playoffs. They could probably drop a game or two and be alright.

I disagree completely. With so many games left in the division I think that the Pacific is going to be a dogfight until the last game. Sharks and Kings both really need these points. No team in the Pacific is more than a few losses away from battling for the 8 seed, and I know they all want the home ice in the first round.

Observations:

Six teams battling for five spots.

The Kings have a game in hand on the Sharks. A win tonight would put the Kings in the lead by a point in the season series, with one game remaining.

In terms of tie-breaker wins, the Ducks are four ahead of the Kings, the Coyotes are three ahead, and the Hawks are two ahead. Closing this gap would be useful.

A SIX-WAY TIE FOR 4TH IS NOT THAT CRAZY A PROSPECT. In any case, I fully expect at least two smaller sets of ties.

Incidentally, were a six-way tie actually to occur, ANA, PHX and CHI would (as it stands now -- obviously these numbers will change) take 4, 5 and 6, with LAK, DAL and NAS proceeding to the head-to-head-to-head tiebreaker. The Kings won season series against both teams by a margin of 7 points, total. So LAK would be 7th seed and I'm too lazy to see which one of DAL and NAS would prevail for the 8th spot.

I was not going to see this game because I was going to go to practice. But I had a really shitty day at work so I am going to a bar to have drinks with a friend instead. If the bartender doesn't put this game on, I will jump across the counter and kick his face.

Theres like 7 or 8 games left, Im not too worried about the Sharks missing the playoffs... but they need the points in a tight race for the division crown and 2 seed.

I guess my first comment would be better served as "this is not a must win for either, but both could really use the points tonight". I hope the Sharks win, but give the Kings a loser OT points, so that we can have the pleasure of taking them out in the playoffs =)

Kings up 2-1 with 8 minutes left.
It seems that one team is in control for a series of shifts and then the other team gets 3-4 good shifts in a row.
Quick has made at least one tough save since I turned on the TV
