My Son got his very first Recorder for Music class

1. Now I know why my Dad vehemently said "Close your door if you are going to play that."

2. I have learned how to read sheet music

3. The look on your kids face when he correctly plays a song on his Recorder is priceless

4. Having thick doors to avoid the continuation of a Recorder being played is even more priceless.

5. I don't own any guns but if I did you can figure out what would happen to that Recorder once Music class is completed.

That kid is bad ass!

I do a lot of transition work between hand gun and M4. I'd love to add a Mossberg or Remington 870 in... maybe I should buy a shotgun.

Funny how they're are so many different types of rifles, and talk about 'em, but not as much about shotguns. The shotguns I own are for shooting a goose way the fuck up in the sky - extremely heavy and really impractical for self-defense type stuff. But I've never shot a tactical shotgun...know nothing about them.

I'm the opposite and have only ever shot self defense shotguns. The Remington 870 is by far the most common/popular. This is what most police departments/sheriff's carry. They can be modified greatly much like an AR style rifle.

I'd actually like to try skeet shooting and then some bird hunting as well.... I did go dove hunting with my bro-in-law once on his land. That was pretty fun.

There's nothing like sitting in a blind and having the quackers circle down into your decoys. Love it.

I still use granddad's old monster 3in 12 ga. It's huge and has no kick relief but you can really hit something far with it.

I might look into a tactical deal next year.

So how many shells does this hold? how do you cycle (pump?)? Is the rear sight a channel groove? It looks really well balanced and like it would be fun to shoot.

Remington and Browning are 2 different manufactures,

It looks like my Browning Sweet 16 but as a 12 it is either the Remington Model 11 or a Browning Auto 5 which is what I think Maize was saying.

Right under production in the wiki link I sent:

John Browning presented his design (which he called his best achievement)[3] to Winchester, where he had sold most of his previous designs. When Winchester refused his terms, Browning went to Remington. Tragically, the president of Remington died of a heart attack as Browning waited to offer them the gun. This forced Browning to look overseas to produce the shotgun. It was manufactured by FN (a company that had already produced Browning-designed pistols) starting in 1902. Browning would later license the design to Remington, who produced it as their Model 11 (1905–1948). The Remington Model 11 was the first auto-loading shotgun made in the USA. Savage Arms also licensed the design from Browning and produced it as their model 720 from 1930 to 1949, and their model 745 with an alloy receiver and two-shot magazine from 1941 to 1949. Browning's long-recoil design itself served as the operating system for subsequent Remington (11-48), Savage (755, 775) and Franchi (AL-48) models.[3]

It was basically one design that was made by many companies. It's very likely that the one owned by the poster in here was the US designed Remington model 11.

16 gauge is the perfect pheasant load. I'll never understand why 16s have lessened in popularity.
