I have a terrible team in a 12-man PPR league. Made a few waiver pick-ups and I managed to squeak out a few wins. I'm 3-4. Seven teams make the playoffs and I'm currently 9th.

My biggest problem is my QB. I had Bradford. And now I'm down to Alex Smith. Just Alex Smith! KC plays CLE then BUF before their bye. So I have until week 10 (I suppose) to make a move.

Free agents are not much of an upgrade. Here's what's available as of this posting:

Cutler
Tanny
Ben
Geno
Pryor
Locker
Palmer
Manuel
Foles
Ponder
Freeman
McCown

I'm hoping that after the next bye week, that other owners start dumping their backup QB. But unfortunately I may be looking at the extent of my QB options thru week 13.

I'd sure like to get your reasons for selecting one of these guys.

Roethlisburger and Tranny would both be preferred options for me over Alex Smith,

The Steelers offense is on the rise with the emergence of L. Bell and the return of Miller, so he is a solid start. The Dolphins also seem to pass far more than they should, so T-Hill has the opportunity to produce when facing a good match-up.

Still though, your best bet might be to stream and play match-ups for the rest of the way. It looks like there are a bunch of decent options, so there is no reason to fixate on 1.

Nice chart.

If you go streaming, I would regretfully take Palmer in week 8 and Pryor in weeks 9 and 10.

Honestly, I would go Locker over everyone else. The other option would be BigBen. I think Locker finishes higher than the rest, even though I think they all suck honestly.

Option #1, make a trade. There is some dude in your league who drafted a Rivers or a Romo ish type qb, who now has 2 good ones. RGIII, Romo, Rivers, etc... Someone like that should be open as another teams bench qb. Make an offer. You have to.

tlance, thanks. (Every time I read one of your posts, I feel as though RG3 himself is giving me advice.)

Hizzle, nice idea but I've been with these guys for 5+ years and they do NOT trade. It's rare. Plus as I mentioned, my team is abysmal. I really have nothing to offer which would equal (or surpass) the value of a QB2. I'll take a look at their rosters though.

Anyone else have a thought or two?

Looked into trade possibilities. Backup QB pickings are very slim. Most guys are carrying one QB.

One team has RG3 and Brees. So I offered CJ1K for RG3.
Another guy has Luck and Eli. I think Eli gets dropped after week 8 which is Luck's bye.
Another has Brady and Vick.
Another has Rodgers and Flacco.
The last option has Kaps and Rivers.

Pryor in weeks 9 and 10.
This is the first thing that stuck out at me. I hate saying "it's gonna be a shoot-out", especially after last week's Philly-Dallas game, but those games have the makings to be shoot-outs.

I'm also on the Locker bandwagon. I think he clearly will have the most points ROS. As for Week 8, I think any of Geno, Ben, Pryor would get you by.

The trade I offered may not go through since I play against that owner this week.

Thanks for the advice guys. Looks like Ben gets much of the week 8 love... so I picked him up (temporarily) and dropped Smith.

Gotta tell ya, I'm leaning more toward Palmer right now for week 8. Falcons play in Zona and stats show that Atlanta doesn't pressure the QB often. ATL allows an average 286 passing yards and 2.3 TD per game. Palmer has tossed a lot of INT this season, but he's played against some pretty tough defenses: DET, NO, TB, CAR, SF, SEA.... still he's averaged almost 250 yards a game and has tossed a TD in all but 1 game. And I'm sure the Cards will be losing to Atlanta and so he'll have to pass.

Maybe I'm just talking myself into Palmer? What would Opposite George do?

if it's any consolation, I just dropped Pryor and added Palmer for this week in our MBBRL (Luck on a bye).

another reason I dropped Pryor was his absence from Wednesday's practice (ankle)... coming off a bye, you'd think he'd be all set to go... he'll need 80+ rushing yards to have any value, IMO, and that could be tough with a bum ankle.

The consensus was to go with Big Ben. Saturday, I'm dropping Ben and picking up Palmer. Unless anyone has some closing arguments to hang onto Ben?

so glad I dropped Pryor! ... so there's his upside, a 93 yard TD run to start the game!

Sorry TKO. Isn't FF fun?

Just a note that the dropping-Ben-to-pick-up-Palmer idea never happened. As it turned out I traded CJ1K for RG3, which processed Saturday. Almost wish I would have played Palmer instead. Isn't FF fun?
