He's ok. Texted him a few months back. He's just a bit busy. I think he's reading just hasn't had time to invest too much time posting. If he doesn't pop up in the next few days I'll reach out again.

Glad to hear is okay. This board has slowed way down and I miss everyones thoughts and opinions on the goings on of the Kings.

I miss the banter but man the team just sucks and not a whole lot to talk about. I too have signed up for The Athletic and there are lots of great articles to appease my Kings fix.

Is The Athletic a paid site?
I miss the banter as well. I wasnt very vocal on this site but enjoyed the insight you all had.
I think I give Blake a pretty long leash. He inherited a BAD situation. I think we will all agree that the Kovalchuk was a bad idea. Also Willie Desjardins was a bad decision. I am happy that they seem to be drafting much better than in the past and the future looks bright with the way he is building the farm system.

It is a paid site, but you can almost always find a discount code. I think I got like 50% off for a year which brought it to around $3/month. Well worth it. Every once in a while ESPN+ has an article you wish you could read, well the Athletic has these just about every day. They have dedicated writers for each sports team so I have lots to read on Kings, Lakers, and Seahawks :)

Good news on Puck. Same as everyone else. Not much to talk about. Eyes on the future, and no real complaints for two cups. This is the time where the real fans live, and all of the bandwagoners can go away. Winning isn't as sweet without these down times. There's some positives in the system changes and Kings seem to be systematically changing. More offensive aggression, and when some talent gets in there, it'll actually work better. Quick's goal's against be damned. Tons of contracts falling off this summer, and this team will see progress already heading into next year. One more year of the albatross Kovy conract, which is fine. Not a good signing, but they didn't really use him right either, and we don't have any beasts that need signing this year that that cap would interfere with. He's doing okay in Montreal, which is also not shocking. Kings will slowly infuse their young talent in as they'll progress. Hoping this whole process humbles Doughty and he emerges from it. Dude is still young, especially or a defenseman. Hope Kings don't get hustled in the draft again (But won't be shocked if they do).

I have certain other teams I'd be okay with winning. Some fan bases that have suffered a lot but are humble. I can't totally pull for Toronto, but definitely pulling for the former Kings over there. I still hate the current playoff format, and long for the 1-8 days again. But Playoff hockey is the best, and I'll still try to watch every game I can.

Hope everyone else is doing okay as well.

Just out of curiosity... when did the Kings get hustled in the draft? What did I miss? I thought their drafts lately have been great.

Last year. Finishing with the second worst record in hockey but falling to 5th overall. NHL giving the top 3 picks to East coast teams: Chicago/New York/New Jersey. I considered that a super hustle. We did end up doing well and getting some good players, but picking in the top 3 (Especially top 2) is usually something altogether more special.

Would you disagree?

OOOOOOHHHH, okay yes. I would say we got hosed for sure. I thought you meant that Blake was taken advantage of by another GM or something. My bad

All good. I wasn't sure the critique. But yeah, hosed. I call it hustled just because I don't always feel those are on the up and up. But same result falling to 5th pick. Lack of transparency and such bothers me with that process. I feel like drafting from the team was really good, and last year's draft was really strong in doing their best with their picks. Just venting that some teams jumped way up to top 3 from pretty far up in the standings.

Everything we hear, the Kings have the #1 prospect pool, but they also say lacking star power, which usually comes from those top 2 picks. Hoping this year it happens. Kings could really use that. Not sure how you can have the top prospect pool and not have any stars. Here's hoping though...

I too was really upset that magically two original 6 teams jump ahead of the Kings in the draft as well as NJ. Hughes hasnt done anywhere as well as I thought he would. They were making him sound like a generational talent but just hasnt happened yet.

We will see how Madden will turn out. He to is just adding to the talent pool but to your point, no stars yet.
We will see what they get from Vegas if the rumor holds true he is off to VGK.
