Excerpt

The NFL has banned prospects who have been convicted of domestic violence, sexual assault or weapons offenses from participating in any league events, reports USA Today.

League events include the annual scouting combine and attending the NFL draft, though players will still be permitted to participate in private workouts and regional scouting events.

Teams were informed of the new policy last month.

It's a good move but I'm thinking their draft stock has already dropped out of sight. Teams don't want to mess with these guys. Well Jerry might but then again he wanted Manzel. I'll just file that under "consider the source".

Well the key language here is 'convicted'. No reason to think talent won't continue to trump off the field issues for most teams IMO.

I say good deal. Weed these criminals out before they even get into the league where Jones and company can sign these thugs to multi year deals and call them great leaders because they practice hard.

No player should ever be allowed to continue his career after a sexual assault conviction.

But this move by the NFL is superficial imo.

Heh. Exactly.

I'm on the record as not having wanted him on the roster (as are others on this board) but I get the reality of football front offices as well.

If the talent is there, teams will continue to choose players with questionable off the field issues.

Hypocrisy to suggest the Skins are any different than other team in that regard.

I just hope our due diligence was worthy and it doesn't bite us in the ass.

Ah. I see what they did there. looks like more half-steppin, bullshittin, and double-talk to me.

Thing is, if you run a 4.25 Forty, put up 1200 yards receiving and 13 TDs for your school, but happened to be accused of r*pe or smakahoe... the school in question will likely sweep it under the rug unless there is no way to keep it quiet.

So I agree its a half arsed measure to look PC by the NFL.
