Cons:
Taylor still starres down one WR
For some reason we have a problem with running into and tackling our own players
Against a real team, Taylor would not have been able to escape some of those scrambles
Sean Fisher continues to look slow and take horrible angles
Put the ball on the ground 4 times
The RBs rushed for under 100 yards against a 1-AA team



Overall:
Not going overboard on the first game and know that they probably didn't try much against a 1-AA team but what they did do on offense did not look better than last year. Defense pushed them around but that is what they are supposed to do against a team like that. Still have a TON of work to do!!!!

Notre Dame got beat by South Florida
Oregon can go away and beat up on teams with no defense while the media freaks out and talks about how great they are

Take better angles on the tackles and wrap it up. Still can't believe only 3 flags and NO DELAY OF GAMES ! The option game is a BIG work in progress. O-Line needs to block better too. Hat on Hat!

I have us at a D+ on offense due to the amount of mistakes we made.........and the fact that the offensive line wasn't on the same page pretty much the entire game.

A- on defense. We're good there.

A+ on special teams simply because Maher blew me out of the water........I was not expecting it.

I agree with Jed's assessment on Fisher. Not only slow and took horrible angles but I'd like to include not wrapping up on tackles and overall looked undersized. I'm pretty sure any Big 10 back will run him over with no problems.

The lack of quality depth at linebacker concerns me going into the Big 10. Compton and David are fine but they really need a third to step up and not be like Fisher. Too bad they didn't feel Eric Martin's motor fit in at the linebacker position.

The lack of a 100 yrd rusher didn't concern me for being the first game since they let everyone have a few touches.

I do like where the offense is heading as it really had the 'throwback' Nebraska feel to it.

Yea, I think as RA said, Beck was trying to give the offense some time this week to work through the system and get the plays right..........rather than just handing it off and pounding it straight forward, which is what I honestly believe we will do more of in the coming weeks.

Maybe not next week, but against Washington I bet you Rex will be used quite a bit.
