Is anybody else not going to watch the Pro Bowl? Jamie's Winston and Teddy Bridgewater were just added to take the place of Brady and whomever.
That was really my point too. How in the hell did either make it over KC?
No interest what so ever.
How are replacements chosen?
When are they going to get rid of this stupid game? They can still recognize players, but the actual game is a waste especially when it is played before the SB.
The last at a loss venture the NFL was associated with was the NFL Europe experiment. THey likely budget in for the Pro Bowl, and its the only format where you can get a simulation of what it would be like to have (Uber QB) throwing to (top 3 Stud WRs). Now we all know the game is a farse, because its impossible to even begin to make it look like a real game inside of three days.
BUt it keeps the fans happy voting players to the Pro Bowl. It basically gives the players a free trip to Hawaii, and it fills the time between the Conference championship weekend and the Super Bowl.
Besides what the NFL is actually shooting for is 365 saturation. This is why they have pushed the league year start back, started to have multiple smaller combines which shall be televised, and will have the draft as a traveling road show going forward. Would not shock me if they added 4 more rounds back to the draft to fill that Sunday time slot at some point in the future.
Like all things - greed may eventually get them in trouble. They are already getting backlash about Thu games which are a joke since it doesn't give the teams (especially the visitors) time to prepare & puts players more at risk for injury in a concussion & injury sensitive era.
This game will always be a joke since football relies on contact & hitting & this is never part of the Pro Bowl. It really needs to go. However - as much of a joke as it as - it still gets ratings that dwarf most other sporting events. It probably provides background noise for most & I doubt that just about anyone is glued to the TV for the entire game.
