The Yotes are playing Calgary tonight (keep in mind they had two days rest prior) and Calgary is playing back-to-back (they got to their hotel at 3 am this morning) and the Flames outskated the Yotes in the third period (Phoenix was playing the trap most of the 3rd).

Backlund tripped a Coyotes player along the boards deep in the Phoenix zone and it was the same ref (van Massenhoeven) who let Perry get away with the trip last night. This time, he put the friggen whistle to his lips and tweeted.

So the Yotes are in 8th all by themselves?? How the heck does Tippet do it?? The guy should be coach of the year every season.

Barry Trotz disagrees. He's been an excellent coach with little to work with for alot longer than Tippet.

How that guy has not won a Jack Adams award yet is beyond me...

He coaches a defensive boring style that gets teams to the playoffs, but then they discover that you actually need offense to advance in the post-season. Basically, he coaches pre-lockout hockey coupled with "game management".

Well my dad is a Red Wings fan (mainly because of Mr. Hockey) and I admire the consistent excellence of the Wings organization. That's about as far as my fandom goes, though.

I must say, I'm watching the OOTS more closely than if we were in a playoff race.
It's nice to cheer for all of the Canadian* teams (and CBJ).
