The U.S. was ahead in every match when play was called (as it seems happens every week this year) by bad weather.

I'm not taping this so I hope it re-airs later...matches are pretty close across the board.
Speith picked up his game on the back nine. Other than a couple of big gag jobs by Snedecker/Mahan and Mickelson/Bradley, day one went pretty well.
Yea...I caught the end of it live...Stricker made a big putt or it could've been a disappointing day...I heard something is going on with Zach...I know he showed up very late...injury maybe. Any news?
The flu. As well as he played, he should catch the flu more often.
The INTs gave it a good run at the end...it definitely wasn't a blowout, but they were climbing uphill most of the way. Fitting Tiger to clinch it...doesn't do well @ the RC, but 4-1 this year, I'm sure Freddie was glad to have him on the PC team.
Still a long way to go, but the US may have found the next super star player. Spaeth handled the stage well...this should help him going forward in the big events...20 y/o...I hope he can handle the media, the money, and the expectations.

Yep. A few other things - this one also showed that overall level of play around the world is very high right now. A lot of these guys made incredible shots from tee to green including some amazing chips & bunker shots. The game is in good shape right now. Granted - there were also some mishits & choke jobs, but those type of things generally happen in these type of events.
Also - shout out to Dufner & Zach Johnson. Both had a great weekend. If you recall they were two of only three golfers who won their singles matches during the last Ryder Cup. Both should be major parts of these type of competitions for quite a while & neither appear to have an issue with pressure.
Someone should advise him to spend some time with McIlroy to discuss these type of things. I don't think anyone is better qualified to discuss these issues better than him since he has seen both the positive & negative aspects of fame & fortune as it relates to the PGA.
Exactly...imo, those things will probably prevent us from seeing another guy make a run at JN/Snead/TW records. Once you've attained the money, fame, women...live changes...everything you've worked all your career for you have. Can't blame them, I know I wouldn't work as hard either.
Heck no. Not sure about golf but in general guys get into sports at the higher levels to get $$ and women. Once these guys get to the top levels & win some major tourneys they are pretty much guaranteed to have these for the rest of their life. It then requires a rare type of person to stay motivated while battling some very difficult competition. I cannot blame any players who stray somewhat - it is their life & everyone has different motivation and value systems.
