Late to the party because I was watching Ted Lasso. Did Burrow play at all?

Can we trade Chase for John Ross?

The drops by Chase likely won't stop overnight. It's odd - This wasn't an issue of his in college and there was nothing about this as a weakness coming in the draft. In fact, most analysts gushed at how strong his hands were and how great he was in using them to high-point the ball and make plays. Seems like he is fighting something mentally. Hopefully he gets over it, but I suspect he'll have a few bad drops (along with some great plays) when the real season begins.

I think he'll be fine, eventually

Chase will be fine. Everyone is overreacting to the drops. Pure concentration. He’s rusty. Hasn’t played football in a year.

It was the same with Burrow at the beginning of camp when he was struggling. Give these guys some time to find their rhythm.

I agree. I think this is an area where less preseason and less training camp is not helpful for the players. Its sort of funny how they make specific mention of the days they actually practice in pads. It just doesn't happen like it used to. My guess is that it can take a bit longer to work out the rust - Especially without much live action. We'll see though.

To be honest, I'm more worried about Burrow getting his groove back. Coming back from an injury like his is different than just being rusty.

I think the drops go back to something he said recently - the game is much faster than he anticipated. Drops are usually 1 of 2 things: 1 - bad hands. 2 - moving too quickly before the catch is made. I think he's falling into the latter camp. He's trying to get up to speed and match the quickness of the game, and he's not completing the catch before he's thinking about his next move. Once he starts to slow down, I think this will correct itself.

That is the same thing I told my wife Friday night as we watched the game. I believe that is the case also. Looks as his head is never on the ball hauling in the pass, it is always looking somewhere else. He needs to make the catch first, then worry about where he is going.
