Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy bacon
I like Boyd, I still don't think he got much of a chance in Calgary, maybe he'll get a second chance. As for Grebeshkov, I think the Canucks might take a flyer on him (since they seem to have missed out on Hamhuis).
Predators general manager David Poile said today he’s yet to make a decision on whether or not to make a qualifying offer to forward Dus*tin Boyd.
Boyd is scheduled to become a restricted free agent on July 1. But if the Predators don’t make him a qualifying offer by June 27, then he would become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Boyd was acquired from Calgary for a fourth-round pick last season, posting five points (three goals, two assists) in 18 games. He made $650,000 last season, and the Preds would have to make him an offer of at least $715,000 to keep his rights.
``To me, it’s a little bit of a factor to who we have signed, what positions we have, what other guys we have in the organization,’’ Poile said. ``So if I have a position for him, we’ll be qualifying him. If I don’t, we won’t.’’
As for defenseman Denis Grebeshkov, Poile said the Predators are unlikely to make him a qualifying offer, which means he will probably become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Grebeshkov made $3.1 million last season and would have to receive a qualifying offer of at least that amount for next season.
