I really not going to guess at this point until I watch what Goff is doing coming in and out of training camp. I am hoping for the best of course. Rookies usually struggle and the schedule is difficult so caution on lower expectations is most likely the best avenue. That all said, I think there is a confidence going in that the defense will play well, Gurley will make defenses respect the run and IF the O-line has improved enough, Goff might just have the release to get more first downs. This should in the end create a better red zone average and scoring will increase. OK, drinking the company line but at some point you would think we could get to .500. Hope so.

I am always optimistic, so with that in mind, I came up with 9-7, with the Rams going 6-2 in their final 8 providing hope for next year even though they miss the playoffs once again.

(Goff redeems himself from the MNF loss in Week 1 and gives a nice Christmas present to all Rams fans dominating their Rival! Rams on the outside looking in but still in the playoff hunt)

(Cardinals win the division the week prior and have nothing to play for resting their starters, the Rams win easily but fail to make the playoffs)

The Rams wont have their 3rd home game at the LA Coliseum until Week 9!

Also, they have three in division games in the first four weeks, so maybe it would be prudent to keep Goff on the bench for the first four weeks & maybe Case can could go 3-1 during that stretch. (Makes Case good trade bait if he is does go 3-1 with the way he finished last season AND if the Rams plans to have Sean as the true No. 2 of the future are validated in training camp and the preseason)

The upside, other than giving Goff more time to study NFL defenses, will allow Goff to gets his NFL debut at home vs a team that has to travel across country. Much different than opening on the road at Levi for an in division rival & Nationally televised MNF game.

Also Goff gets his first road start vs possibly one of the easier road games on the schedule, if not the easiest. Next, off to a neutral site where there wont be a huge crowd bias and follows that up with a bye week to collect himself before the home game vs the AFC Champs.

By seasons end he gets three of the last four at home with two of three in division. A lot of upside to sit the guy for the first four.

I can see the usual season of beating some teams we shouldn't beat and losing to teams we have no business losing to and ending up around the 7-9 mark.

At some point the players will out perform their coaches ability...on the odds alone; Fishers days as an 8-8 head coach are over. Gurley and a mean stingy defense along with a #1 QB will have to do better than 10 wins. Rams make the playoffs & win the NFC west.
