Loved Monte and what a nice guy he was in person too. He was a 212 lb safety when he came to the Redskins. He was a STs and roll player for a number of years while he developed until he eventually became a very good starter. What is sad is the fact that you won't see many guys like Monte anymore. Someone who can fill rolls while developing and then play 15 or 16 years in the league. A lot of guys who played like Monte are gone within 7 years these days.

The week 16 return being conditional of making the playoffs doesnt make sense to me.

The earliest Lichtensteiger could return to the practice field would be in Week 16, when the Redskins face the Philadelphia Eagles, but he’s not eligible to play unless the Redskins make the playoffs.

Eligible to start PRACTICING next week, then eligible to PLAY 2 weeks later which coincides with playoff week.





The rules state:

A player who has been designated for return is ineligible to practice until six weeks have elapsed since the date he was placed on Reserve, and is not eligible to return to the Active/Inactive List until eight weeks have elapsed since the date he was placed on Reserve. The business day that the player is placed on Reserve counts as the first day.
