So my interest was piqued and I went back and scored all the starts per the "new" PQS -- changed two years ago. One tweak: I gave a point for starts that "only" went 6 innings (PQS only awards that point if a 19th out is recorded by the SP)
To refresh PQS - one point each for
6 IP
H<= IP
K>= 5
K/BB >= 3 OR if BB = 0, K>= 3
HR = 0
A score of 4 or 5 is DOM; 2 0r 3 is DEC; 0 or 1 is DIS
Gausman: 10 starts, 10 DOM
JC: 7 starts, 1 DOM, 3 DEC, 3 DIS
Webb: 9 starts, 4 DOM, 3 DEC, 2 DIS
Disco: 11 starts, 4 DOM, 4 DEC, 3 DIS
Sanchy: 6 starts, 0 DOM, 5 DEC, 1 DIS
Wood: 8 starts, 5 DOM, 2 DEC, 1 DIS
Kazmir: 1 start, 1 DIS
A couple of notes
1. we altered the rotation a few times. First, when Webb skipped a turn and Wood started his season. Then JC got hurt and Webb came back. Then the weird one that I don't remember: We moved Gas back two games and brought back Webb on five days rest (anyone remember this?). Then Sanchy went down and JC came back. Then Webb skipped a turn and Kazmir got a start. The rotation seems to be Disco/Webb/Gas/JC/Wood now. Of course, Beede looms and Sanchy will be back at some point.
2. I also took a look at what I call Cock Punch Blown Saves (CPBS). I define this as a lead entering the 8th inning or later wherein the bullpen gags. As I thought, we have 8. Two were in the same game. Seven were losses. Average season is one CPBS per month so we are already well into 2022. You expect about one of these a month.
3. Bullpen stats:
McGee: 23 GP 4.15 ERA -0.4 WAR
Wisler: 19 GP 6.11 ERA -0.3 WAR
Alvarez: 17 GP 4.86 ERA -0.4 WAR
Garcia: 13 GP 4.41 ERA 0.1 WAR
Doval: 13 GP 7.59 ERA -0.6 WAR
Selman: 7 GP 4.50 ERA 0.0 WAR
Santos: 3 GP 22.50 ERA -0.7 WAR
That's seven sacks of shyte in the bullpen. If we'd had even an average bullpen we'd have at least 4 more wins.
4. The SP has been excellent obviously, but Disco has been the most erratic. Gas is a CY candidate and Webb and Wood are solid. JC's disaster starts are all coming off injury so maybe he settles down.
