unless larrson is the next stevens he isnt going to turn the d around all by himself

I don't know about that. Look at Chris Pronger going to the Flyers, or better yet, Chara going to the Bruins.

Anyway those are HOFers, but look at Doughty or Keith.

Sure we're not tremendously deep at center, but I legit believe JJ is a guaranteed 2nd liner at this point, and Adam Henrique is the first prospect we've had in the AHL to score 25 in a long, long time. Parise didn't even do that as far as I'm aware. Not to mention Elias is going to move to center anyway because he's not playing LW anytime soon.

Also, based off your logic of a center setting up Kovy for 82 games, imagine a real defenseman playing 25-30 m/g vs Andy Greene.

i see what your saying and yeah if larrson turns out to be like keith or doughty then yeah thats a huge gain HUGE. i dont really want elias at center though and i see what your saying about greene but to me i dont think the problem the last few playoffs has been the defense...just has been scoring heck even this year kovalchuk the 2nd half of the year was a machine and yet the games were only 2-1. gotta increase that margin of error IMO.

we are all in agreement though as long as it isnt LW whoever the devils get will a huge lift to fill a need

Lol, I don't think we're going to get a left winger. hahaha.:yuck:

Next year we're going to have 4 left wingers with a $5M cap hit. Yeah, that's a fact. Oh, boy.

To be honest the thing that matters most to me is that we get the most talented player on the board regardless of position.I really want to fill a need but I dont want them to reach just for the sake of filling a position.

It doesn't matter where any team drafts they should always take the Best player available.

If a team is at the top of the draft it's even more important to take the BPA.

Of course every teams board is different. So who knows. Nobody thought Fowler & Gormley would fall to 12th & 13th last year.

I have a feeling Strome will be taken at 6 by Ottawa if he's available. Murray would probably like to move up for Landeskog, but I doubt he will be able to do so.

I wouldn't mind one bit if Snow took Strome at 5.

The one wildcard in the top 8 is the Blue Jackets. They seem to want to make a move of some kind. I don't know if it will be on draft day, but if they can add another Center to their prospect pool they'll attempt to do so. They made a shrewd selection last year with Ryan Johansen.

We're really not as deep at wing as people would like to make us out to be. Elias, Rolston, Zubrus, could all be done by the time these guys become legit NHLers. Clarkson can't be relied on as a scoring line winger. What if Parise's knee doesn't hold up the way we hope? All of us sudden the cupboard is pretty empty when it comes to wingers.

exactly our prospect depth is deepest at d, bit Larsson would still be a no brained, where as basically all of our wing prospects are either now on the team or nothing to write home about, so labdeskog, while last on our needs sure wouldn't hurt

Parise went to North Dakota, he never played in the CHL.

Hockey is not a sport where you draft to fill one particular spot. The exception is if you have a Crosby, OV, etc. Because the majority of these guys are 2-3 years out, you draft the best player available and work him into your team when the time comes.

I think we actually luck out that most of these guys just so happen to be positions of need

It also doesn't hurt that we need everything except more Left Wingers.

Never ever draft for need unless there is a really good reason not to take BPA. The only player that we can guarantee to still be on the team when these players are coming into the NHL is Kovalchuk
