say top 6 picks?

i'm saying....

oil- RNH
colo- landeskog/larsson
cats- couturier
devs- larsson/landeskog
isles- huberdeau
sens- d. hamilton

i have a hunch that florida is gung ho on couturier, and as much as i would love him, i think my dreams lie with larsson so it can only help him get closer to us.

i really think the fate of our draft lies in colorado's hands. i know we don't need a wing, but i feel like if colorado passes on landeskog, lou just has a bit too big of a hard on for players like him. that said if they take him, i think we're gonna be sitting in kirby's motha fuckin dream land :D

Realistically ill be happy to have anyone but realistically landeskog would be about the 4th 5th or 6th guy if I had to rank my wants of all the prospects (except for rnh)

1. Larsson
2. Couturier
3. Huberdeau
4. Murphy
5. Hamilton

Frankly, I haven't watched any of these players enough to know who we want, but there are several things I think are key:

1. I think we should absolutely pick a defenseman, even if there is a guy like Couturier available.

2. I don't want any dmen under 6'2"

3. I don't want to sacrifice speed/agility/athleticism/skating for size. So I'd take a 6'1" - 6'2" guy with speed and skill over a 6'5" boulder.

4. I want the closest thing we can get to a sure thing. I don't want to go with the guy who "could be the best" by sacrificing the guy we know is definitely going to be "top 5." Basically, I like more certainty over greater potential.

So in general, I guess I'm looking at Siemens or Larson.

I'm good with whoever we get. Obviously winger is the position I want least, but you won't hear me complain. Elias won't be young forever, Rolston is gone, Clarkson isn't dependable as a scoring line winger. That said, I want Couturier.

I definitely don't want a forward, the more I think about it. We already have a gigantic log jam of forwards.

i really believe the oilers will take larrson at the top pick. after that its a crapshoot. i think everyone is so high on RNH it will throw the next two picks into chaos.

IF these players are gone
hopkins/larrson/courtiourer i say trade down and grab hamilton or whoever the next d prospect is. if there are no buyers then take him then.

if you really believe we have a log jam at forward why not make a trade for some defense? 1 d man isnt going to turn around an average group. but 1 great center will be feeding the scoring machines parise/kovalchuk for 82 games.

i want courtourier or hopkins larrson as the fallback or i say trade down

i just cant believe how many people are underestimating how big a hole at center we have. look what arnott did when he came here? or gomez or nuewendyk look what happened after they left? and those are just "GOOD" centers not hall of famers except maybe newendyk. unless larrson is the next stevens he isnt going to turn the d around all by himself

1.RNH
2.Landeskog
3.Larsson
4.Couturier/Huberdeau or Murphy
5.Only Garth knows.
6.Strome

Murphy is the wildcard of the draft. If Lou believes he could be the next Niedermayer or Rafalski he'll take him. If not it will be Huberdeau or Couturier.

If Larsson isn't available I wouldn't want to reach on another dman.Larsson is the only dman I think I would be comfortable with in the top 4.We also need A top end center would love Couturier but if he is not available Huberdeau is to good to pass up.If the team wants to go after one of the other guys I would prefer they traded down.

RNH being drafted by Edmonton doesn't make sense when they could use the dman more but he is being hyped as the second coming of Sakic don't think edm can stay away

i dont know they have some good dept at center. i think if they want to turn the ship around as fast as possible they go with larrson. i hope they take hadeskog this way we are a lock for larrson/coutourier/hopkins i'm fine with either 3

I agree cup would be happy with Larsson Hopkins Couturier and also Huberdeau I would be really disappointed if they reached for anyone else from the 4 spot.Would hate it if they stretch just for the sake of picking a dman.We do need a center and to be honest I can't say I wouldn't want a center anyway if Couturier or Hopkins are still on the board its not often we are in position for a top tier center .

just goes to show you though if edmonton is thinking of passing on larrson for a center to play along with 2 of their franchise studs in eberle and hall why arent we going to do the same iwth parise and kovalchuk

yeah no reaching....i dont want the next nieds if it means giving up on a all around GOOD player that will play for many years. just too big of a draft pick to blow. you know what i wont be mad if they pick who they are suppose to pick and he is a bust. i will be mad if they reach for someone and hes a bust

I agree taking Murphy at 4 is a reach, unless the scouts know something we don't.
