With Urban's pipeline to Florida from his coaching days there I can definitely see how that would happen. I hope they schedule a home-home series sometime in the near future because I believe it would be great for both teams.
Was thinking the same thing, but I would doubt it anytime at least in the next decade, unfortunately. We've got TCU, Oregon, Texas, ND, and Washington H/H's coming up, though I'd have no problem putting them on the schedule as a twofer in one of those years. I miss the days when we'd play two higher-end P5 teams OOC. Been 15 years since that last happened.

Holtz came close with 42, that was only in 11 seasons as well. If he would have stayed another couple seasons, my guess is he would have gotten there. No coach in the last 100 years has been at ND more than 13 seasons and that was Rockne. BK currently sits at 18. He'll need to coach at ND another decade to get to 50 probably.

My guess is this will rarely happen going forward with 9 game conference schedules in the B1G, Pac 12 and Big 12. But this is the world we live in with larger conferences. I'd prefer the 8 conference games, 4 OOC games, with 2 against P5 programs.

We actually have Texas and ND both in 2022/2023, which is sweet, but you're probably right. Sucks that they can't at least do one major P5, one mid-low level P5 and one G5, but I guess them's the breaks.

Was curious so I looked at Bill Snyder at Kansas State. He has 90 games of 40+ points. More than I thought. If there are any K-State fans on here, you're welcome.

Coach Heisman had 30 games with 40+ points (in 15 seasons). On the other hand he did have 5 games with 100+ points and 1 game with 200+ points.

Coach Alexander had only 22 games with 40+points (in 24 seasons)

Bobby Dodd had 20 games with 40+ points in 21 seasons. But did have an 8 game winning streak against UGA.

Ross had 8 games with 40+ points in 5 seasons. I only wish we had the money to keep him, Friedgen, and O'Leary as coaches for a few more years. The NFL paid better....

O'Leary had 20 games with 40+ points in 6 seasons. And had a 3 game streak against UGA. I wish he had stayed away from the Notre Dame job and kept coaching. His replacement Chan Gailey suuuucked.

Finally, Paul Johnson has had 27 games with 40+ points in 9 seasons so far. At this rate if he continues to coach for us for another 8 seasons he will have 50 games with 40+ points scored.

Some notes: When Heisman was coach the season was only typically 8 games with no bowl game. The number of games varied from 7 to 10 per year. During the Alexander tenure the season was between 9 and 11 games depending on the year and whether we went to a bowl game or not. (Which was rare as there were very very few bowl games during that span.) By the time Ross was coach the season was 11 games plus maybe a bowl game. In the modern era it's a 12 game season plus a possible conference championship plus a possible bowl game. So potentially 14 games in a season. Versus 8 back when Heisman was coaching. Many many more opportunities for coaches now to score 40+ points in a game.

But ultimately, GT has zero coaches with 50 games with 40+ points.

Hayden Fry probably does.

Kirk Ferentz has 39 overall, 23 in the B1G. Ferentz is not a "run up the score" kind of guy. Not always a good thing. He probably is quite low in allowing 40 points.

Iowa allowed 40 points 13 times under Ferentz. 7 times against B1G opponents (4 during his 1st two seasons).

From 2001-2010, Iowa only gave up 40 points 1x (2004 vs Arizona State)
